1. Lou Holtz
As another option. Butch Davis sucked, too.

31. Jets 1976 3-11
Coaching success only eluded Holtz in the NFL. He coached the New York Jets in 1976 and his rah-rah style didn't cut it with the pros. He went 3-11 and returned to college ball the next season with Arkansas.

Wannstedt got the shaft....he's not terrible. He's not great either, but he's not terrible. He's just got the worst luck.

Was there ever a guy who got more mileage out of being friends with a great coach than this guy?

10. No, he's not great, but the hand he was dealt was the worst

I'm not saying he's a great coach, but Vince Lombardi couldn't have coached these Dolphins to 6 wins, much less the playoffs.

A guy who is statistically about 2/3's of their offense decided that smoking dope was better than the NFL, and throw in game losing performances by Fiedler and Feeley. How many interceptions can be run back for touchdowns in the last minute to win a game?

Wannstedt is certainly not as bad as Ray Handley, who took over a Super Bowl winning team, with all that talent and took them down the shaft.

11. Dave Wannstedt got the job by virtue of being
Jimmy Johnson's buddy.

Same reason he got his first job with Chicago.

What in the world did Wannstedt do to earn ANY head coaching job he's had other than be cozy with Jimmy J? If one wants to look at the power of networking one only has to look at the NFL. I swear to god once you're in that fraternity you'll be taken care of no matter how badly you stink up the place one one team. They turn up somewhere else. How else could you explain Les Steckel for christsakes?

In many other industries you'd be blackballed from that profession. Not the NFL

Tossup for me between Dave & Les.

http://olympia.fortunecity.com/white/225/gory.html">Frank Patrick, the tight end that in 1971, Packer Coach Dan Devine, had to have been the worst QB.

As for a coach, Gotta be Lindy Infante, the unintelligent ass cantaloupe who passed up Dieon Sanders and Barry Sanders for that idiotic fucktard extrordinaire, Tony Mandarich.

Denny Green was at least funny and easy to be ridiculed.

Tyce is just a guy who looks like a street thug or private security dude.

20. Ray Handley
should be on the list. He took over for a team that won the Super Bowl and didn't take them to the playoffs in his two years. They made the playoffs the year after he left.

32. Dave "Let's go for ONE" Campo? Norv Turner?
That Thanksgiving game was embarassing.

I love Norv Turner-he made Jim Everett look good- but he is the perfect example of why just beacuse you are a good defensive or offensive coordinator it doesn't necessarily mean you are going to be a good head coach.
