Someone please tell me I am alive!!!
I just drove through the absolutely WORST nightmare of my life. I'm driving 95 south and hit one of the worse rain storms I've ever driven through. We had wind, we had horizontal rain, we had no visability whatsoever, we had lightening and we have a river running down I-95 south in N. DE.

I would have pulled over and waited out the storm but there are no highway lights in this section of 95 and visibility was horrible. I figured I was better of staying on the road driving (freaking 30 miles an hour on a highway I tend to do 70).

:scared:

I feel like I should recite "Desiderata" now ;)

I am so sorry you had a bad driving experience. I hope you can take a nice dandelion break here in the Lounge

The deluge is now in Bucks County.

Soon enough, we'll have the snow to deal with. :-)

3. That sounds VERY scary!
I'm glad you're OK. I really don't like to drive, so when I get into situations like that I really tend to panic.

Did you have cramps in your hands by the time you were done? One time I got really lost in Chicago and drove through gang areas. I was too scared to ask for directions, so I kept driving and driving. By the time I got home, my hand was shaking so bad I couldn't get the key in the door.

But, you're home safe and sound now. And all is right with the world. :-)

4. Yes, I was white-knuckled
Normally I wouldn't drive in this kind of mess, but had I known it would have been this bad I would have never left Ramsey's house and driven home. And normally I would pull over to the side of the road but there was no highway lights along this stretch of 95 so I thought moving on would be safer.

I'm home, but I think my heart is still racing!

5. possibly. I am reading your post. **
however, that same storm blew across Northern Virginia around 11pm, while I am at work...too much lightning...and technically our outdoor smokers' "shelter" cannot be considered shelter when the wind is blowing the rain horizontally...some nasty stuff but there has been worse over the Summer, coming over the top of the mountains from the West...

** it is possible, since I was getting wet trying to fix a nicotine jones and there was much bright lightning and crackling of thunder, that I too did not survive the storm...if someone from another region verifies both our posts, then it's cool...

6. I will verify
that you are indeed both alive and well — unless I got caught in the alternate universe, too. <-- Although that would explain a lot. Down is up. War is peace. Bush is president.

Perhaps we need a fourth person to wake us up from this nightmare. ;-)

8. Hi Sarah.
But seriously...
did you turn your flashers on?
Always do that in low viz conditions.

13. yes flashers were on
but because I was driving 30 mph on a section of highway where the average speed is usually about 72.

I can't believe I was being passed even in that weather, but then again the other cars were doing about 35.

10. Glad you made it!
This year has been WEIRD, as far as weather goes. In over 9 years in this country, I had never actually seen ONE tornado, but this year I saw FIVE from my balcony (though none came closer than a mile to us).

I think we still owe you a bachelorette party?

edit: I probably just kinda hijacked this thread, but I've been waiting for the right time to bring this out again.

14. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee HAW! That sounds like a BLAST,
heck, I was on the 5 freeway heading south from SF to LA when a hella storm like that hit. 30 miles and hour? HELL no, HAD to keep moving, at a measly 5 - 10 mph, buckets of water blasting, four wheel drive locked on to steady against the wind sheers of the 18 blowing through..
Thems the FUN times! Yeee HAW!

Lash me to the mainsail laddy!
