I'm really frustrated with Verizon's cell service
I was out of contract and wanted a smaller plan. I called customer service. After initially telling me there was no smaller plan, I said that I would probably wind up cancelling the service b/c I couldn't justify paying that much money for a cell I hardly used. I kept asking questions and I found out there actually is a unpromoted small plan that would give me minimal minutes. I decided to switch to that plan but the rep had already cancelled my service - this was all on the same phone call - and had to send in a request to have it reconnected. He said it would take 24 to 48 hours.

Five days later and three phone calls, I still have no service. They were supposed to call me back yesterday and didn't. They were supposed to have called me back this morning and didn't. I suppose it's time to make call number 4. I have to leave on a business trip at 6am in the morning and I'll be gone for 3 days. I need cell service.

It might not be as bad if it weren't the 4th or 5th time they've done something weird to screw up my service. And they are the ONLY provider in my area.

1. That sucks...
We have Cingular, and I haven't found their service to be much better. As far as I can tell, NO provider offers good customer service, when you're talking cell phones. Good luck with it.

2. Last year, they made me change my number
They lost a local toll contract so it became long distance to call my cell from where I live. They'd told me it wouldn't affect me to begin with. That took 3 hours. One guy tried to cancel my service because he said they didn't service my area...the area where I had had the phone for 2 years. They screwed up my contract when they changed the number and it took a month to get a new phone when my old one broke b/c they said I wasn't eligible. My experience with them has not been good, but when I travel, I need to be reachable. I have a 5 yr old and run a business. So I'm stuck with them.

3. it takes about 10 minutes to go ...
from reconnect from disconnect, they are morons..they send the form to their lead coordinator to have it reconnected and the freaking lead takes forever to receive the freaking request...if you escalated the issue to the supervisor, they can have it reconnected and program the cell phone on the same call. Now maybe the first time when they try to reconnect they did it wrong, now there is an error on the switch and they don’t know how to deal with it!! they have to call technical support for it and have it done over the phone in 5 minutes...it can be easy if the know what are they doing...

4. Verizon: We're not happy, until you're not happy.
I had their DSL service...HAD it, up until a few days ago. I went through almost the same exact thing. Wanted to change part of our phone plan, and they wipe out our DSL service. It'll be 48 hours for it to get back on. 7 full days later, nothing. Bye Verizon, you suck.

Way to build a reputation.

7. That's what I'm wondering, in which case, I'm going to be less happy than
I am now. I did get to a supervisor and they are supposed to have it back on in the next hour or so, but they said because it was a disconnect, they had to run a new credit app... Yah, hello, I didn't disconnnect my service, they screwed up. I really hate dealing with them.
