Blue screen of death crashes (Bill) Gates at CES (Consumer Electronic Show

Bill Gates's legendary luck failed him during his keynote presentation at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

His demonstration of Microsoft Media Center crashed during the presentation on integrating digital photography, and later a Microsoft product manager failed to access the internet with a Tablet PC.

A new game, Forza Motor Sport, also triggered the dreaded Windows blue screen of death.

6. exactly... M$ set the standard for releasing buggy software
prior to that, it was considered very bad form.

3. oh my goodness that's funny
I always hated demoing alpha software at COMDEX. It's hard to bite your nails when your fingers are crossed.

I remember the same thing happening to him at Comdex at the launch of Windows 95 if I remember correctly.

Good ol' Micro$oft... always good for a chuckle... well... gotta get back to work, on my Mac... heehee

15. Poor Intel-based PC hardware gets a bad rep.
It isn't that bad if treated with proper care (i.e., a decent OS *cough*Linux*cough*)

Macs are OK in my book tho'.

And that is that Microsoft is the only company in the industry who releases two public betas, but calls them "Version 1.0" and "Version 2.0." Version 3.0 is the final release.

They use the sales derived from selling their public betas to finance finishing the program.
