3. JEOPARDY!
They need me. I am pretty sure I could at least become a contestant. I was called to auditions almost three years ago, but had ankle surgery one month before the audition date and couldn't make it.

5. Jeopardy.
I actually took the test about 2-3 years ago, but I wasn't one of the top 5. I need to get back on the list for when they come back through town.

They give you SO LITTLE time to answer each question. I blew it on Hogwarts, Louisa May Alcott, and the Warsaw Pact.

Make sure to study LOTS if you plan on doing it. Memorize ALL of Shakespeare's plays (LOTS of questions about Shakespeare), and check google for strategy.

I found a Webpage from an ex contestant who tells how to bet in Final Jeopardy etc. It helped too.

9. YES!!!!!
I think we should get Match Game back on. There are certainly enough D-list celebrities around to stack the panel with. We just need to find a couple of solid regulars (i.e. Charles, Richard or Brett), and a good host.

14. I passed the test... (CONTAINS FLAMEBAIT)
...for Jeopardy twice (once for the high school tourney, and once for the College), beat the living shit out of everyone in the mock game they have you play, left confident I would be the first one they called, and then never got called either time.

AND NOW FOR THE FLAMEBAIT: ...My theory about why they never called me is that the stupefying amount of name-taking and ass-kicking I would surely have done would have fucked up their little habit of fixing all the high school and college tournaments for women. Come on, someone has to have the guts to back me up on this. For the last several years, all the scholastic tournaments have been really transparently tilted towards the majors and interests of the female contestants. I saw one college final where it was two women and a guy and the Final Jeopardy clue was about "The Baby-Sitters' Club" for fuck's sake. Oh, well. Flame me if you must.

16. I won't flame you!
I think my husband could win big bucks on Jeopardy but he's too mousey for the show. I think they look at personality as well as how well you play.

Did you sound like Howard Dean? They like that type!

22. No flame, but most of the time, the categories skew male
Maybe I'm being sexist myself here, but in general, most women aren't big sports fans. Even if they are, it's rarely a broad interest - maybe we follow college hoops during March Madness or our hometown football team, but they don't "talk sports" or follow sports in general. I love baseball, but don't follow any team but the Phils and the Nittany Lions. SO & I have season tickets to the Phils, but I couldn't name three AL players, and have no idea who plays in what stadiums. I sure as hell don't talk to my friends about sports. EVER.

Jeopardy is SATURATED with sports questions, which puts women at a disadvantage for the game. Every night, there's at least one category that requires a knowledge of something sports-related - college stadiums, pro stadiums, team nicknames, coaches, boxers, record-holders, you name it. Even categories that look innocent will ask for the name of the city's team or stadium, or a college team's nickname or stadium. Who the hell knows this stuff? And who but guys care? Guys don't even realize that most women (even really really smart women) do not consider spectator sports a valid topic of conversation or thought. At work, before a meeting, a bunch of us were comparing department stores, and one of the two guys said "can't we talk about something we can ALL talk about?" and I asked "like what?" -- His reply: "Sports". And then he didn't know why we were all laughing at him.

Then there are other categories that are generally "guys only" - guns/weapons, a lot of other war-related stuff (I'm not talking about important stuff like not knowing who fought at Waterloo or Gettysburg, I'm talking about tank types or helicopter makers and that sort of trivia), or some other "guy" category like comic books .

27. I think Jeopardy's questions have been dumbed down over the years
I found older Jeopardy (from a little less than 10 years ago) to be like a more serious quiz show. They seem to be more novelty-ish with their categories nowadays. (Don't get me started on the Clue Crew, either). They even had 2 shows where all the category titles for one round were Duran Duran or Barry Manilow song titles.
