What are you doing now?
I have short ribs slowly cooking on the stove for homemade beef veggie soup. The only frozen veggies bought were lima beans and peas, the others were fresh, green beans, carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, spinach and onions.

I cannot tolerate canned soups, they are too salty. I don't have a blood pressure problem but the salt in canned foods are overwhelming. So, if I want soup, must make it myself. Of course once the meat is done I take the meat out of the broth, and refridgerate both to take off of the fat. There is nothing like homemade soup.

I've tried making soup with other cuts of beef, short ribs with the bone on is the only way to make good soup. Guess it is the marrow of the bone that gives the flavor. add veggies to the broth and meat and adding a small can of squashed tomatoes makes a great meal. Sometimes I add some polish noodles.

6. I'm getting into making homemade soups this year too
Husband and I are transitioning to vegetarian, so it's getting challenging coming up with ideas. But soups work well, because I can add beans for protein, and a wide variety of veggies - and it's warm and yummy and freezes well.

I've made a couple batches of chili lately - added TVP for extra protein - and I'm trying out a new recipe tonight - Corn and Potato Chowder. I'm also making some hummus, yum!

And zucchini bread. I'm feeling ambitious tonight.....I guess I better pull myself away from DU so I can get started!

7. Having another cup of decaf and trying to catch up on message boards.
I've been away from the computer all day.

Due to my possible Meniere's Syndrome (essentially vertigo related to fluid in the inner ear and possibly triggered by caffeine and sodium), I have to do a caffeine-free and low-sodium diet, at least for the time being. No canned soup for me either! Your soup sounds wonderful. I did a homemade chicken soup the other day.

14. Reading (well, now posting) on DU, watching Anchorman: The Legend
of Ron Burgundy, reading a bit, washing dishes, and doing some programming.

Not all of these simultaneously, of course, but they are all things I've been working on during the last fifteen minutes.
