Sometimes I snore when I sleep on my back... usually, whoever is sleeping next to me will just elbow me in the ribs and I turn over and stop

5. Try making yourself sleep on your sides. |
|
Although sometimes people snore in all body positions. Breathe-rite strips only open your nasal passages, they don't stop snoring. Even surgery to the soft palate isn't always effective. The best treatment for snoring is nasal CPAP. You may have sleep apnea if you snore that loudly.

13. Sucks that you may have sleep apea? |
|
Yeah but you've got a lot of company. I've got it and use a CPAP. It's quite a common disease. For some people weight loss will help the problem. But I've seen bodybuilders with it too. And little old ladies without an ounce of fat on 'em. If your airway is smaller in diameter than normal that alone can cause a problem. If you go to your family doc with the problem, they may refer you to an Ear, Nose, Throat doc, called an Otolaryngologist. Or they may refer you directly to a Sleep doc. If I were you I'd save the $$ on office visits and find a good Sleep doc in your area.
I love my CPAP. Makes a world of difference.
And if you have Sleep Apnea chances are your siblings and at least one of your parents do too.

8. My daughter says I snore |
|
but I've woke from half sleep snorting before.
Here is a scarry but strange story, my dog woke me up one night, he was in my face and whinning. He did not do this before or since, I often wonder if I stopped breathing and this was his way of waking me up. Usually he sleeps at the foot of my bead. I couldn't believe he was in my face whinning when I opened my eyes. He never did this before or since.

I have been awakened by my dog stepping up and down on my legs several times. I definitely snore and probably have sleep apnia.
Bless the little doggie hearts.

12. Our dogs are our life line |
|
I truly believe my dog shook me up that night. He has not bothered me since, this was over a year ago. Geez louise, this was a scare. He is my senior baby. Maybe this is why they both crowd me at night, to keep me awake. Their sleeping patterns have changed, one is right against my side just won't budge, the other who woke me sleeps at my feet. Two years ago one would sleep at the foot of the bed on the floor and one would sleep on the side of the bed between the waterbed mattress and the frame. Now both do not give me room to move. They are protecting me, but don't know why. These are my angels.
