I was just investigated by the billing dept. of NICOR natural gas company

I got a call from NICOR a few minutes ago wanting to know if I had either vacated my home or been out of town. I asked why? They said its because my gas bill doesn't add up. They said they did an estimated bill last month and that after reading my meter this month it appears they owe me money. $20 bucks to be exact.

I told them I have been here all along, but that I did a huge amount of remodeling here over the summer which included a lot of weatherization work, like new doors, windows, siding, and a shit load of new insulation blown into the attic. I have a +90% efficiency furnace that hardly ever runs anymore. Got a new high efficient hot water heater and a set of front loading washer and dryer too. It appears to have all made quite a difference.

NICOR said my check is in the mail for what they owe me. What a great day. :)

We replaced all our upstairs windows and my bills went down a bit. We get the readers coming over every month.

Once we replace the downstairs windows, we expect to be owed money as well.

My neighbor replaced all his windows at once, and the gas company replaced the METER because they didn't believe the low readings.

the water co. raised rates because customers were conserving too much water. Hope your gas company doen't get any ideas.
