Looking at Monster.com at jobs.
Cannot seem to find anything. It is really demoralizing.

1. I have been doing the same thing
It never seems like it all falls together correctly - the job and you never seem to be in the same place at the same time.

5. I wish something would work out.
I am tired of living in my own nightmare. I want it to end. I can't live with all this. I don't feel like I am capable of doing anything.

15. Again; WHAT KIND OF JOB ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Why do I think you need to tell us? Babara Sher.

Last year, I was at my wit's end. I was doing a job that I hated and thought that there was NO WAY that I could ever get into the line of work I was really interested in; writing and illustrating children's books. It was catch 22; no publisher would look at an unsolicited manuscript. The only way to have them solicit a manuscript was to have representation by a top agent. I had looked around for years for a great agent, but every one I inquired about had an artist somewhere that hated him/her with the heat of a thousand suns. I didn't want to get used, not after years of being kick around by Disney. So it seemed there was no way to get my work into the hands of a publisher.

So I went to a taping of "Barbara Sher's idea party" at a local PBS station. Sher's idea is that if you stand in a middle of a room full of strangers and tell them what you want and why you can't get it (things like changing jobs or buying a home without a down payment; not winning the lotto or looking like a supermodel) that SOMEBODY in that room will know how to get you what you want. I stood up and told them my story. The woman sitting next to me raised her hand and said "I work for the marketing department of Scholastic books. Maybe I can help".

I gave her a few pages from my book, and on Monday morning a VP of Scholastic called me. They were interested in reviewing my book for publication and hired me on the spot for several others.

So voice your desire. Tell us EXACTLY what you're looking for. Maybe one of us will know how you can get it.

16. Possibly something in politics.
Working for a Democratic politician, or a think tank. I know that I don't want to do fundraising. Maybe as a pollster or even work under an advisor. Start out small and move up.

I think I got my work cut out for me.

18. Best not to look at places like monster, then
first; I would start a new thread with a title like: "I want to devote my life to the party. Please help", and I would post it in GD, because most professional politicians and their underlings don't look at the lounge. Then I would write to my local and state politicians. Ask them if they offer internships or have any positions available. If you need help with the letter, then write a draft and PM it to me. I have a good friend who is a master at writing business letters that get results. I'll also ask my cousin if she knows of anything; she's a county commissioner and a "friend of Bill", so she knows plenty of people.

Anything worth having requires some work, but it's not insurmountable by any means.

8. George's Missing 10.2 Million Jobs - This Might Explain Things!
Employment Picture Still Dreary
Comstock Funds
January 06, 2005

Whatever the December payroll employment report shows tomorrow, it can’t come close to making a dent in the serious jobs shortfall of the current economic expansion. Here’s why. The NBER officially designated November 2001 as the bottom of the last recession, meaning that the November report marked the third anniversary of the upturn. During this 36-month period total non-farm payroll employment increased only 0.9%, a number that pales in comparison to past cycles. Over the last seven economic expansions the average rise for a comparable period was 8.7%. If that were the case on the current cycle there would have been 10.2 million more jobs than the total number reported for November, and the average monthly increase for the 36-month period would have been 316,000 per month. Instead the average monthly rise was a paltry 33,000, and even over the past 12 months when employment picked up somewhat, the average monthly increase came to only 171,000, a far cry from the typical cyclical increase. In fact only three months of the 36 showed increases of more than 300,000 jobs.

Snip ......

It's a big site, but it only covers a few things IMO. There may be better sites out there for you.

20. Egypt
I know I'm sort of crashing in on this thread; I know you guys will let me know if this is really bad behavior, but as a newbie I can't start a thread.

I'm thinking of accepting a job that takes me to Egypt, does anyone have any experience living there?
