So, my repug bosses have killed the net completely |
|
The Freep in the office has managed to get some rather nasty things (viruses, tons of spyware, adware, etc.) on his computer it seems. So, today, I get to work, and like every other day, go to fire up AAR. As soon as I hit IE, I got a message that I didn't have permission to go to this site and I should now see bossette for the password. WTF? I have to be able to get online to get maps for the mow crews when they go to a new house, not to mention the yahoo mail account set up to get bills electronically. I have been told that each site I want access to will require permission. I thought I was going to die. No AAR, no DU, no nothing. All because the Freeper got busted playing games online, and they found out that his computer was all fucked up.
:wtf: am I gonna do now?????????????

I might be able to get them to let me have AAR, but I know I won't have DU. That sucks like a Hoover!

3. What program are your web-nazis blocking you with? |
|
I have 71 posts here, despite joining over a year ago, because during the nine hours I spend on the net each day at work, I can only read the stories here, no boards! We have websense...and there are ways around it, but your boss will see them as more than a little gray. Best advice...suck up to the geeks in IT. They can get you around it easily as it's taken me four years to become savvy enough to do it. But I still can't get on the boards at work damn it!!!

7. They are just using IE's parental control crap |
|
There is no IT, small office. I hit 1,000 in two months, and my work was still getting done.

13. What you need is a simple password program. |
|
There are lots of places to get them for free in the wild. Just pull it out and run it whenever they change the password. I doubt they use any characters other than letters and numbers, so it shouldn't take long at all. I'd give you a URL or two, but there is some question as to the legal entanglements that could be involved using such a program. But if you google "password cracking programs" and dig around a bit...

No offense, really, but what, exactly, are you doing on DU at work? Work is for worktime, and not playing around and surfing on personal sites. You owe your employer WORK that they pay you for. You're not being paid to surf personal sites on the net. Your work computers are the property of your employer, and they have every right to do whatever they want with them or have whatever policy they want regarding personal or internet use. And you're supposed to be working during work time!

Really, I'm not a slacker. When I get a few minutes, I jump on to DU to see what's going on. My employers are getting exactly what they are paying for.
