Ashlee Simpson's new album!!! The song known as
"Pieces of Me".

Shouldn't that be titled "Lipsync of Me"?

And as for "Love Me for Me", oh dear...

Never mind how obvious "Giving It All Away" is...

I hope looks get her far in life. Of course, in 1991 lipsyncers would be roasted. Ashlee pulls a Fab and nobody gives a fuck.

1. Is Ashlee Simpson a Democrat?
It seems as if Ahslee's politics are not the same as her big sister's. Here is a picture of Ashlee Simpson at a "Rally the Youth for Kerry" function in October:

Not that any of that excuses her behavior on SNL. She should either explain herself or not be invited back.

11. Labels are for canned food. Judge people by their personal actions,
I'm tired of being a pawn in the politicians' game. (yes, that is the correct grammar. It's not just one. Or one side. They ALL play us off as chumps and pit us against each other.)

Faith is in the deed, not the word. That's why I can proudly say that * is no Christian or has done nothing Christian that I find comparable to that of Christ's teachings, which are the conditions FOR being a Christian.

22. I'd say that this display means yes
It's nice that she stands out in a conservative family. And she's not as nauseating a person as Jessica or her dad. Also, she's just one who got CAUGHT lip-synching.

But I only like a couple songs on her CD.

26. BTW..
just because I'm not crazy about Ashlee doesn't mean I'm a pop music basher.. I like quite a few in pop and am proud of it. I just think Ashlee's a not-so-talented one on the bandwagon. I do dislike Jessica Simpson's music more.

2. Leave her alone.
Just because she represents everything that is wrong with the music industry today doesn't mean that we ALL have to collectively bash her.

Or does it?

6. Yes. I agree.
But my point is that this is a problem with the entire industry. Why pick on only one person? Go after ALL of them.

Who is Cindy? Tell her to go on American Idol :P

13. I go after them all. I just have to find them first. Besides,
Ashlee is kinda cute and if you've noticed, all the recent corporate hos (Ashee, Britney, Jessice, Paris, their sisters, their nieces, whoever else in their bloodline) all seem to be workin' their looks than workin' anything even remotely talented.

Last I recall, Britney got divorced (again). How that (I won't say it because some will say it is sexist and I am an evil male :eyes: ) can marry and divorce as if she was playing Chutes'n'Ladders and it's socially acceptable, yet I can't marry because OMG, it's another guy and it's a choice and it's immoral and blah blah blah...

Damn right I'll lampoon every aspect of this corporate-fed $ociety. We're not a culture. We're a gigantic penny, crushing everything it chooses to roll onto. (the choice of coin is utterly deliberate... and ironic, given many of the damn good quotes he said during his lifetime...)

30. If we're going to change the Constitution to prevent people from marrying
then I suggest it just be narrowed down to Britney Spears. The "sanctity" of marriage would be protected, we'd never have to hear about her exploits in the tabloids, and same-sex couples who actually love each other would be able to wed.

Seriously, I do. I also accuse fake breasts--no two things are more wrong in conjunction than that fusion of flesh and silicone/saline.

14. Acid Reflux,lol.......
I had to laugh when, after the SNL incident they tried to blame it on acid reflux. Acid reflux never made extraneous pre recorded vocal tracks come through a PA and monitor system before. I have acid reflux and I am also a vocalist. Never in my life have I ever blamed poor vocal performance or inability to sing on acid reflux. My personal opinion is that she is totally riding the coattails of her sister's success and that she (ashlee) is a talentless fraud. I attended the Indy 500 like I do every year, and Jessica Simpson I thought did a very respectable national anthem. Very live, nothing syched, nothing to blame it on. I was impressed.

16. .
If she had any command of the stage or her *cough* craft, she could have recovered from the technical glitch perhaps by calling out some quick simple emergency standby "whatever" tune to the rest of the band and quickly, just go! It's not the mistake that hurts you, it's how or if you recover from it, or if you even try. Anyone remember, on SNL, when Elvis Costello stopped his band a couple measures into a tune, and quickly called another one out to the band? It was a bit awkward, but a total recovery and total command as an artist on his part. The industry, film, TV and music have got to stop
hiring other celebrities family members assuming that THEY also have talent. There are way too many talented hard working artists just wanting/needing/ and DESERVING a break that never get considered because of <name your baldwin or simpson or other celebrity>'s family member geting the gig - not just in the interest of fairness, but also in the interest of talent and quality entertainment.

19. How come people seem to forget that Milli Vanilli NEVER used their voice
It was ALWAYS someone else singing the music (it was actually in their contract).

At least Ashlee sings her own stuff.

20. $o¢iety devalued itself; Milli Vanilli paved the way toward apathy...
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 08:50 PM by HypnoToad
She writes her own music? And sings it? I am surprised. And admittedly harsh toward her. But a corporate sell-out is still a corporate sell-out. At least Milli Vanilli got the idea of lip-syncing on their own.

And as I recall, the one who didn't kill himself has half a decent voice too. A great pity...

24. Real musicians do.
There are talented musicians starving out there while manufactured pop star pieces of shit like Ashlee Simpson and Britney Spears are being shoved down the public's throats. People don't buy it because they like it, they buy it because they're told by our corporate gods to like it.

That's what the hoopla is all about.

If there was something you cared deeply about, and someone was running around whoring it all over the place, wouldn't you take it a little personally?

27. I'm not saying the music industry is remotely fair.
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 09:41 PM by LSdemocrat
I also don't think there is any objective standard for what constitutes good pop music.

I happen to like cheesy pop music. I know its cheesy and often is written, produced, and packaged by some Hallmark-esque corporate hack, but it is what I genuinely like to listen to.

Of course it would be better for nearly all musicians involved if the music industry was less decentralized and more democratic, but that is not going to get solved by one or two corporate artists going away.

28. This is where I've learned to agree to disagree with people.
For instance: you may care deeply about sports, and I could give a shit. Quite a few people are the same with music.

I've learned to lighten up on people who really don't care about the eternal artistic value, and just like what they like. So no hard feelings. I just was hoping to explain why some people feel so strongly about it. I wasn't trying to come off as argumentative, just after a few beers, I have a hard time making my point effectively. :)
