I've heard pessimists live longer than optimists. Here's a dramatic reason why they do:
A pessimist will stop at every stop sign, just to be sure; but an optimist will occasionally run through them.
Basically, pessimist have a more realistic outlook on life and for that reason, they make more cautious decisions.
