...just thinking about cheese and cheese food sent me to the kitchen (well, it was time to start dinner anyway.)
Baked Macaroni and Cheese is on the menu tonight. Sauce made with Real Sharp Cheddar AND Velveeta (more of the former than the latter).
It'll be ready by 6:00 PM EST.

16. Cheese is pure cheese. Cheese food is not. |

http://pubs.acs.org/cen/whatstuff/stuff/7806sci2.htmlPasteurized process cheese food may have dry milk, whey solids or anhydrous milkfat added. It must contain at least 51 percent cheese, less than 44 percent moisture and have at least 23 percent milkfat. This from the USDA. Don't even ask about pasteurized process cheese product.

for a change. I was all up in arms about cheese food and cheese product and my sister read the label. It was basically cheese with skim milk added to it. Now I am reading the label on the cheese product in my refrigerator and it looks different than I remember. It says "milk, whey, milkfat, milk protein concentrate, salt, calcium phosphate, sodium citrate, whey protein concentrate, sodium phosphate, sorbic acid, apocarotenal, annato, enzymes, cheese culture" So now I am wondering "where is the cheese?" Then I also wonder, "what is cheese anyway?" Probably I will be sorry that I asked. People who love laws, sausages and cheese should not ever watch them being made - raisins too I might add.
