Is it wrong for a recovering dope fiend to mock a recovering alcoholic? |
|
It's a family thing, I don't feel like going into detail, but what do you think?

3. Well, no, not if it's like a bonding thing. |
|
It's wrong for anyone to mock anyone, though, if there isn't some kind of a connection between the two people.

4. I don't think it's right to mock anyone who has an addiction problem... |
|
If they are strong enough to take that first step into recovery then they should get praise for it

7. Is the "dope" in question Marijuana? |
|
Or other drugs? I ask because I don't really even consider Marijuana a drug in the same class as others like alcohol, coke and opiates. Marijuana can certainly be abused, but so can food. I know lots of people who smoke every day, but I don't believe they have a "problem". They just like to relax in the evening.

Mocking someone over their drug of choice goes counter to the concept of "not caring what you did or how much you used" and the one that calls him- or herself an "recovering dope fiend" needs a meeting to find some acceptance about being a "recovering addict" just like the alcoholic.

11. to their face or behind their back? |

If they are just venting behind the drunk's back, I'd ignore it and let it go away. If the doper is face-to-face mocking the drunk, that is just rude.

it would seem to me that an addict making fun of another addict's addiction issues might not be satisfactorily dealing with his own.
