For me, the mother in John Irving's, "A Prayer for Owen Meaney" had so many experiences similiar to mine that I could have written her charactor.
I had a similiar experience after reading Margaret Atwood's "Edible Man." Scenes from both were so eerily close to mine that I swore the writers stole my experiences. Any one else?

2. Roddy Doyle's "The Woman who Walked into Doors"
Although though I was never physically abused I was emotionally abused for years. The main character(who's name escapes me)was ME!!!!
Always pretending everything was okay----putting on the happy face etc.

I could feel the tension all through the book.

4. my freind had a short story published and i did have a main character
inspired by me. It was a gothic sexy horror kind of thing in which the grim reaper himself fell in love with me. the fact that i had been to many funerals sort of gave my buddy the idea that mr death had ample opportunity to scope me out. i was a little taken aback. i love her writing though.

i also was the subject of an epic love limerick. that i'll never forget.
