This city is a collective pack of wimps when it comes to weather. Two inches of snow on the ground and the joint is shut down. All flights to Boston cancelled, cabbies gouging left and right.
So here I am.

Well, I hope you get home soon, safe and sound.
I would've never thought DC would be so wimpy about snow!

how wimpy the city is pisses me off. One would think that they could figure out an effective snow removal/management plan.
But then, we are talking about the Nation's Capitol, where apparently no money is spent on city maintenance. Or on schools.

(I just wanted to write that phrase) abounds in all it's shameful, parka-wearing glory; visit Seattle when some histrionic weather forecaster utters the word 'flurries.'

that the grocery stores will be PACKED with worried folks buying up milk, eggs, and bread or so the joke goes.
It is hilarious!

There's a foot of snow on the ground here in Chicago right now, and I walked home last night semi-drunk in it. Naked.
Well, not quite naked... but you get the idea.

13. St Louis freaks out with a couple of inches of snow |
|
as well. I guess it's because both DC and St Louis are southern in many ways.
One year one of the school districts in West County cancelled classes on the THREAT of snow. It did not snow ONE FLAKE nor did it rain. Eggs on their faces that's for sure. Since then that school district is one of the last to close on account of snow.
When I was growing up in central Illinois, if the superintendent could get to his office we had school.

have had about 2 inches in the last hour or so. By the way Will, I have really been enjoying FYI at truthout. Great job. I am finally getting re-motivated after that horrible night in Boston (11/2) -- Thanks!

16. DC is a southern city. |

No one knows how to drive an SUV in the snow around here. So far today I had to go out three times and the roads were nearly empty.
Find a bar and relax.

Weather reports say we're going to get 12"-18" inches of snow out of this storm in Boston. You're probably safer down in DC, even if they are wimps. As long as someone's taking care of the cat back home.

If you'd like to spend time in the country you can stay here.
We're an hour or so west of D.C.
We have plenty of toilet paper and batteries, a big house, your own room with private bath, DirectTV to watch the Pats, and about an inch of snow.
Oh, and pleasant company, of course. :)
