DU Admin helps indict Republican!!!!
Well, not really...but it's interesting to read at least.

http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2003/10/03/indicted/index.html

Oct. 3, 2003 | MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The head of the Minnesota Republican Party has been indicted by a grand jury for an alleged improper corporate campaign contribution, his lawyer said.

Chairman Ron Eibensteiner was charged with four gross misdemeanor criminal counts, his lawyer, Bill Mauzy, said Thursday.

Mauzy said there was no basis for the indictment and that he would move immediately to have the charges dismissed. "There is no crime here," he said. "We have a runaway grand jury."

Eibensteiner called the indictment "preposterous." Mauzy said he was told of the charges by special prosecutor Earl Gray, who convened the grand jury in Mower County on Wednesday.

4. LOL
Thank you, thank you. I couldn't have done it without the support of my crack team of undercover ninja special prosecutors, although I must say I did the bulk of the actual work. They mostly snuck around in the shadows. I shall now be moving on to Washington DC to reveal the name of the White House leak, which John Ashcroft is currently covering up. In fact I can reveal to you now that the name of the leak is... urgh... gasp... EarlG dies of mysterious heart attack at age 29.

<joke>I didn't even make the connection! Congrats Earl! </joke> ;)

In MN, there's been this little back-and-forth bitchfest going on over campaign finance of the last gubernatorial election. Our Repub governor has had some "problems" of late accounting for his various contributions and his income for the previous year. Naturally, the state party has attacked the DFL Attorney General (Mike Hatch, a pitbull if there ever was one) and other elected officials in an attempt at payback.

The Rethug party in MN was once a decent bunch of folks. Harold Stassen, former governor, presidential candidate, and signer of the UN charter, was a great example of them: socially moderate-liberal and fiscally moderate-conservative. Since the 80s, the Repubs have been taken over by religious wackos and scary out-of-state economic conservatives who seem to think that we have no obligation to care for the less fortunate in this state.

Ebensteiner and his predecessor are part of the problem in this state. I'm looking forward to him getting whatever a jury thinks he has coming to him.

:toast:
