I really don't think this year can get worse......{{{hugs needed}}} |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 07:20 PM by kittycat1164
not only am I having this shit with my left arm and wrist, but today I had a grand mal seizure. I had brain surgery 2 1/2 years ago after having seizures all my life. At one point I was taking 16 pills a day without being controlled. After surgery in June of 2002 I hadn't had a seizure since. It was gone, but then today at work I went down and had a grand mal for 4 or 5 minutes. God dammit, I only got my driving privelages back in October, and now it's all gone again. FUCK FUCK FUCK. What the hell did I do to deserve this shit?

1. Oh, kittycat1164, I'm so sorry. |
|
I hope this was an isolated incident for you. It really sucks that you'll lose your driving privileges. My husband is starting a neuro workup for unexplained loss of consciousness (several episodes). He's a truck driver (or at least he used to be, until this happened). It's scary.
Hope you have a good support system behind you too.

it just sucks so bad. I really thought it was gone, god, and then get blind-sided, not to mention the damn side effects of what I'm being put on. I just can't stop crying and I'm not a crier.
on edit: not to mention I chewed the *hell* outta my tongue while seizing so it's cut up pretty bad. *sigh* Thank God I have the percocettes from my wrist/arm. Every muscle in my body hurts.

3. That sucks.. I'm really sorry |
|
My dog has (had) seizures too due to epilepsy.. She just stopped having them after the new year thanks to the Potassium Bromide added to her Phenobarbital regimen. Is that what you take? I'm interested because of the side effects, which aren't so pleasant dogs.
Anyway, I hope it was just a fluke seizure today.

7. over the course of my life I've run the gammit |
|
This time he's given me trileptal. That's one I've never tried, here's what I have to look forward to:
-an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); · symptoms of low blood sodium (nausea, general discomfort, headache, extreme drowsiness, or confusion); · central nervous system effects (difficulty with concentration, speech, or language; excessive sleepiness or fatigue; a loss of coordination or trouble walking); · double vision, nystagmus (back-and-forth movements of the eyes), blurred vision, or other visual disturbances; or · increasing frequency or worsening of seizures. • Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take oxcarbazepine and talk to your doctor if you experience · headache; · mild sleepiness or fatigue; · nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain; · tremor; · dizziness; · rash; · diarrhea, constipation, or decreased appetite; · weight gain; or · dry mouth.

6. Hang in there. Tomorrow will be better. |
|
If my EKG is OK on Saturday I can get off the "prophylactic" anti-seizure pills in about 10 days.
Fell down and busted my head. Is that dumb or what?
But I'll get well. I believe that. You will too.

It's just so depressing and I'm trying to keep OK in front of my kids (two girls 11, 13) actually, they're taking it worse than me - if that's possible, hell, I've never seen a seizure, they have. I've only been on the other side of one, Poor things. pretty scary for them to witness.

That must be so frustrating to think they are gone and then to have one again  I hope that it is an isolated thing for you, and that the meds aren't too bad on your body.

17. So sorry, my mom has had to go through that and its not fun |
|
It wasn't fun for us kids either, her being a single mom and all. She's gotten into natural medicine now and I don't know what she is taking but she rarely has seizures anymore, and is happy that she doesn't have to deal with the side effects of the prescription medicine. It might be worth it to try a homeopathic doctor, since it it such a hard thing to live with.

21. kittycat1164, I assume you were born in 1964? My younger brother |
|
was born in 1964. He had epilepsy when he was a kid. He, thankfully, outgrew it but I think the meds he took for the epilepsy screwed up his brain chemistry and led to his lifelong battle with depression.
I wish I had words of comfort.
Here is a cyber hug...I hope it helps.
