Schadenfreude
Schadenfreude - taking pleasure in somebody else's misfortune

How many DUers are experiencing some degree of Schadenfreude this week over the growing scandal of Leakgate, Rush's troubles, etc?

What else is there for liberals to feel Schadenfreude at the conservatives' expense these days?

:bounce:

3. I Must Admit . . . .
I do feel a bit of Schadenfreude!! No, not a bit, a lot!! But I deserve it!!

In the end though, if this thing gets bad enough, my feeling of schadenfreude will turn into sadness and compassion for my country and the crap we will have to go through to straighten it all out!!

By the way, I love the word!! Thanks!

4. I'm schadenfreude-ing all over the place

Don't forget Arnold is now starting to take a little heat over some indescretions in the past. Rush is just self-destructing in a big way. First the comments with racist implications. We all knew he was a pig. But drugs? Wow.

8. Hell yes
Sure, I have no moral dilemma taking pleasure at the expense of all the shit Rush Limbaugh has found himself in. This is a thoroughly nasty individual who has taken pleasure in slinging shit at everyone in sight for decades now. Let him choke on it now that it's headed back his way.

As for what else I'm feeling Schadenfreude about, I'll tell you, though it may not make me very popular for a while. I'm getting a lot of evil joy out of the rude awakening the mindless, knee-jerk dittohead Republicans in the military are getting nowadays, given the fact the Bush Administration has dumped them in Iraq and left them high and dry. You're a Clinton-hating Bush voter stuck in the Middle East waiting for a pass home? Well, too fucking bad, buddy. Sit there and rot, for all I care. These people mindlessly supported a wartime military deserter over a guy who stuck to his principles and rejected an immoral war, all because they insisted on believing Republicans were better military leaders than Democrats. That failed mindset put them in the predicament they're in, so I have zero sympathy. Nada. None.

Note I do have compassion for the objective, free-thinking, non-GOP military personnel stranded in Iraq. The dittoheads in the sand can go fuck themselves, plain and simple. I don't support troops who refuse to think for themselves, or who aren't capable of thinking. They're part of the problem we have in this world today: ignorance and violence.

Budweiser (home of pils) and Holsten from my hometown Hamburg (home of beer), I don't have a problem with this. How many beers do you want and will you not feel Schadenfreude for me?

13. "Schadenfreude" the literal translation is
schaden = injury or damage

freude = joy

I would have to say, yes, I'm enjoying these past two weeks immensely. Actually, ever since the Niger uranium incident moved west across the Atlantic from the UK, my 'schadenfreude' level has been steadily moving up. From 3....to 5.....to 9....and with the Limburger story, ...10!

It feels great. Not that we DU:ers had anything to do with it. We've been more or less on the sidelines, unwilling witnesses to these Keystone antics which they have brought on themselves.

So - keep going guys. I'm enjoying this.

15. Hell yeah
I suppose deep down I do feel a little sorry for Limbaugh as an (alleged) human being. BUT he is nothing more than a HATEMONGER and is a pompous rabble-rousing blowhard, so when people like that are revealed as HYPOCRITES it is hard to have any sympathy for them.

PLus Limbaugh and his imitators have done so much to drag down public debate in this country it is a good thing for him to be exposed. He deserves a large portion of the blame for destroying the concept that Republicans and Democrats could respect each other as people and Americans and just disagree on policy. He is responsible for the "Blame the Liberals" industry that has been so toxic to politics of the last 15 years or so.

SO yes I am enjoying his donfall very much.
