and I'm really pissed. Anyone that disagrees with folks is called a DINO. Here I thought I was a good Democrat. I mean I've worked on campaigns since I was 12 years old. Who knew.

according to many on DU. Their petty, childish demands for idealogical purity do get annoying, though.

PERFECTLY stated. You're so right. You know, the Nazi's had idealogical purity.

12. So does this administration |
|
The polarization on the right is creating polarization on the left, along with the fear of "selling out" we have about a lot of our reps.

8. I've been called a freeper more than once... that's the trouble with |
|
being a free thinker despite being usually pro-progressive in my ideals.
That or I just disagreed with their crackpot idea and therefore I must be a freepazoid infiltrator.
It's inevitable. Just ignore the twonks's messages and even themselves if they continue being prats about it all... :-(

10. Well, Now That Depends |
|
On how a DINO is defined and on which campaigns you've worked. Really, maybe we that term too easily.
I think we all have a few key hot button issues for us that make us identify with the Democratic Party, and other issues where we either lean a little to the center/right or are ambivalent. For me, the hot button issue is Reproductive Rights, so I have to fight the urge to call anyone who is Pro-Life a DINO. On the other hand, when it comes to the military and the situation in Iraq, etc. I have mixed feelings. Thus, to a hard core Peace Democrat, I might be a DINO.

we're talking Mondale and Dukakis to start. I worked for the AFL-CIO out of college. I mean its ridiculous. But I'm a big tent guy, so I get called a DINO. I'm no Zell Miller that's for sure.

About which campaigns you worked for. I'm impressed, I always voted Democrat but didn't get off my ass and do anything until 2004.

I can understand you being insulted. We really shouldn't ever call each other DINOs. It IS insulting. We shouldn't call each other freepers or use pejorative terms in reference to each other. I mean, we shouldn't anyway, but I think it is contrary to the DU guidelines.

:D Kidding.
It's nicer in the lounge. People don't talk about purging and such in here. I don't believe I've ever called a DUer a DINO, though there are plenty here. Usually, if I'm going to take exception to someone, I just start in with the bad words.
I'm not helping things, am I? :D
