I got screwed ordering something over the net.... |
|
How do I save others from experiencing the same treatment I received?
I placed an order last Sat. & paid for 2-3 day shipping. I figured it would be mailed Monday and I would receive it by Wed. When I called last night - they hadn't even filled the order! So I said I needed the items by noon on Sat. so whatever they could do to get it to me would be much appreciated. To my shock the owner suggested I pay for overnight delivery. I told them that their business would fail if they treated all their customers this way. She told me she had been sick and I had only ordered 2 items not 10,000. Then her husband got on the phone and yelled at me for yelling at his wife. Then the wife got back on and told me I was an awful person for not caring that she had been sick. She told me she would cancel my order and hung up. They have yet to reverse the charge on my credit card. I had my credit card company change my card number just in case these nuts felt like screwing with me.
Bottom line: How do I warn others not to deal with this company??

1. Well, you could start by telling us the name of the company. |

9. Be careful naming it... |
|
...you could get sued for slander. It has been done, successfully.
I'd delete that post, myself.

21. Don't worry about naming the crappy business. |
|
How else would people know to avoid it?
If what you have posted is true, then there is NO liability whatsoever for libel (written) or slander (spoken).
Don't let people wind you up with an incorrect understanding of that.

23. and all you have to do is preface it with an 'IMO' |
|
that is, In My Opinion, and then say what you want.
You're not directly stating that something IS, just what your opinion of it is. That is a legally defensible position.

11. Wow. What an annoying site!! |
|
You obviously didn't have your speakers turned on when you were initially placing the order.
Cheesy music... A voice saying "Welcome to our site..."
It reminded me of Homer Simpson's first attempt at a website. If your posting doesn't scare folks off, the site will take care of that for you.
Yeesh.

No, I rarely have my speakers on...didn't even know they had music. Now I hate them all the more.
They DO have the cheapest prices...now I know why!

2. uh, by telling us which company it was? |
|
Most of them are pretty good, but the ones who take your dough and then sit on the order, well, that's just not cricket.
As for shipping... it's one of life's great ironies that 'Next-Day' shipping takes 3 or 4 days. ;-)

I NEVER buy anything on the net unless the company is listed here and has a good rating. You can rate the company here and tell others of your experience.

I would start by telling people. Negative word of mouth can kill a business. Post it to all manner of websites. If you want the item for free, you may want to e-mail them, linking to this post. Let them know you're going to hurt them, even just a little. Sick or not, a business is a business. They should have it clearly posted on their website when your items will be shipped.
Then contact the Better Business Bureau & REPORT them.

I suplement my income by selling on the Internet and I ship orders received before 5:00 PM the same day. Orders received after 4:00 but before 9:00 AM the next day get shipped first thing in the morning. And I also have a full-time day job. Even when I get sick I can find somebody to make a trip to the post office for me. It's all about making the customer happy. Why do so few businesses care about their customers anymore?
