Let's make a reading list for The Lump In The Bed
Since she's so hot about reading books, let's give her a few ideas. I'll start:

2. Oh, lord
The thought of the two of them getting sexually excited or (gulp) having sex is just too appalling. The twins must've been grown in pods or something.

6. y'know, I've wondered about Bush's "ranch manager" ...
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 03:07 PM by Lisa
The guy who actually looks after the Crawford property and the cows ... he's the son of the former owners. Seems like quite a decent person ... and Laura HAS been known to stay at the ranch without W.

Given how disagreeable Junior can be, I wonder whether Barbara Bush ever whispered the US equivalent to "close your eyes and think of England"?

Re: books, I would suggest any suitable "bodice-ripper" based on Lawrence's work (wealthy lonely noblewoman finds true love with working-class schlub), if Laura is too prudish to read a much-banned book! Even Fay Weldon's "Life and Loves of a She-Devil" should give Pickles a few ideas.

Or, this being the 21st century -- why not start thinking about starting a lesbian eco-feminist commune with some of the girls from her birdwatching club?

3. Two eye-openers I can think of
1. Mein Kampf
2. The New Testament of the Holy Bible, particularly the parts where Jesus instructs His followers how to live their lives and how to treat other people. Very revealing.
3. Fox in Socks, just for the hell of it. The Bushes seem to like that sort of thing.

4. Sisters by Lynne Cheney

Leaves you panting for more!
Rating: 4 out of 5.
This story of a Washington wife who leaves her powerful husband to join a womyn's commune is charged with the kind of eroticism you just don't expect from the Second Lady of the United States of America. I was amazed at how graphically Ms. Cheney details the commune's daily "massage classes" and their predictable free-for-all aftermaths, while at the same time delivering a devastating critique of phallocentric discourse in modern culture. I can't wait for the sequel, in which the Sisters declare war against the male-dominated multinational corporation that is threatening to foreclose on their commune. Four Stars!

7. Actually, I believe the title is...
"The Vice President's First Lady."

But in Lynne Cheney's case, I think calling her a moron for marrying that pig will suffice.
