So have you seen this show Yu-Gi-Oh?
I was flipping through the channels the other day when I went home for lunch. I got up to get my food out of the microwave, and got back to my chair I had stopped at the Cartoon Network. They had this show Yu-Gi-Oh on, looks like some kind of derivative rip off of the already horrible Pokemon. So they've got this crazy spiky hair kid for the main character. Looks like this:

Now, the kicker is, despite the characters appearance, the guy they got to do the voice acting sounds like the ill gotten love child of Barry White and Robert Stack. It was really bizarre. It must have been some joke, "hey, let's have the guy who does the voice overs for movie previews be the voice of this goofy, punky twerp. This show probably won't last more than a couple episodes in the states anyways. It'll be funny." I understand it was so successful they made a movie. I couldn't imagine what those parents had to go through watching 90 minutes of James Earl Jones as a proverbial Mickey Mouse. Poor bastards.

1. Ugh, it's such a stupid show
"I will pull out this card and fight your attack"
"Aha! I deflect your attack with this card"

You get the picture.

2. It was HORRIBLE!!! I took my son to see it -- I ususally enjoy kids
movies -- but this one -- I am lucky I made it thru. Now he wants it on DVD!!! Good thing he doesn't have any money!

3. last year,
when I was teaching at that fundie school, I had a seven-year-old who loved that stuff. When it was his turn to offer the prayer in class, he always ended it thanking God for Yu-Gi-Oh and the Millennium Puzzle. :D Funny kid.

4. My 6 yr old son is obsessed w/ Yu Gi Oh. All he asked Santa for this year
was YuGiOh cards and the YuGiOh movie on DVD. The deep voiced guy is actually the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharoh who possesses the body of Yami YuGi with his permission. Yes, I have been subjected to far too many hours of this crap.

20. "Yu-Gi-Oh" is just the name of the show
The protagonist's name is Yugi.

I only wish they had a hangman's noose for sale at the concession stand. I would have stood in line to purchase it.

13. You dont get out much do you?
Its the best selling, most popular CCG (Collectable Card Game) in the US outselling Magic last year. They have Tournaments with a Million dollar prize! The cartoon/movies is a tie-in to the game.

14. Just so you know
The voice you are hearing is not his actual voice. The character is actually two individuals. The kid has a squeeky voice. But that giant pyramid pendant he wears allows the spirit of a Pharoah to exist inside his mind. The voice you are hearing is the voice of the Pharoah.

Just to let ya know.

22. You really have been subjected to too much haven't ya
Actually even though I wouldn't site Yugi as a prime example of Anime its far better than most of the crud on prime time network. I would gladdly sit through an episode of Yugi than any reality show.
