I worry about Cyndi Lauper
She seems like a nice person.

Her career just hasn't worked out.

I hope she's okay.

6. I gathered all the Xmas trees on our street when I was a kid
and put them in the backyard cause I felt sorry for them.

8. We're too good for this world.
But if not for us, think of all the sad christmas trees and coffee cups!

2. Every star has their time to shine
She was such a novelty act that there was no way to sustain a career longterm. She did sing with the Boston Pops on 4th of July a few years ago...

4. Her career's doing all right
I saw her last summer. She had a pretty successful album last year, she tours constantly, and seems to be having a good time.

5. She's still performing as far as I know
Sometimes after a HUGE brush with stardom, some people just want to entertain...sometimes they find less encumberances with downsizing their stardom.

7. saw her on Johnny Rotten's vh-1 special a few years back
she and johnny met in a crowd at some event and ran towards each other and embraced. there was something so undeniably cool about seeing these two manic panic-dyed folks, who are both pushing 50, appreciating each other's nonconformity so much

12. She toured with Tina Turner a while back
so she's getting work. I seem to recall that she was in some commercial a while ago, too.

13. She can live comfortably off the royalties
from "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," "Time After Time," and "True Colors" for the rest of her life anyway.

16. Cyndi's great
She's much underrated as a singer. She got famous about the same time as Madonna, I think. Cyndi's MUCH more talented. Life isn't fair.

I have a fond memory of seeing Cyndi Lauper in concert on Halloween night of (I think) 1982, in Birmingham. Great show, and a lot of great costumes among the crowd. One surreal night, that was.

17. I think Cyndi's career's just fine
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 02:33 AM by Susang
Her Chicago shows all sold out on her last tour, she owns her own studio and can actually sing powerfully and on key (unlike Madonna).

So how's your career working out, Joe? Are you doing okay? You're not the only DUer who worries, you know. ;-)
