NPR: New I-pod prefers Steely Dan |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 10:04 AM by Richardo
Well, not really. :(
Apparently, one user noticed that the random-play function of the new I-pod seemed to bring up his Steely Dan songs more often, and some songs were never or rarely played. He questioned the randomness of the algorithm that selects the songs. An inquiry to Steve Jobs produced the reply that is was indeed random.
Not satisfied, the guy consults a mathematician and cryptologist. The verdict: It is mathematically random.
I for one would prefer to think that the I=pod knows good rock when it plays it. :) :yourock:
