My favorite toy were my "My Little Ponies". I know, it sucks...but I thought it was the shit way back when. In fact, I had this exact sea-pony.

1. Me too!
I had a zillion of them. My sister bought me one for Christmas one year and I thought it was the cat's pajamas, so people kept giving them to me as gifts. I loved them.

Not the cutsie kind. My favorite was an ugly naked olive-skinned troll with black hair and orange eyes, whom I named Gertrude (or Gertie for short)

She was one of heavy plastic dolls that could be considered collector's items - but I played with the doll so much, it probably lost all its value.

6. I had a police car
It was about a foot long and ran on batteries. The light would swirl and the siren would go off while the car would go around by itself. I took that car to show and tell so many times it finally pissed my mother off and she tried to make me take a gyroscope in to school. I smashed it on the ground and she put the pieces in a bag and made me take them to school..LOL. I had to explain what happened.
As for the cop car, my mother "accidentally" stepped on it and smashed it, but because I was in to Adam 12 and car chases I thought my smashed cop car looked cool.

33. I got pissed one day in Kindergarten
when a friend of mine lost one of my cars in the sand.
I pushed him over and yelled at him. They told me to apologize and I wouldn't.
"He lost my car on purpose!"

:eyes:

If only I realized they were about a quarter to replace.

34. Matchboxes have this strange allure.
I'm attached to mine in a way that would make people send me to the shrink. They're in a shoebox in the attic. Every few months or so I feel an urge to go there and hold the things in my hand.

37. What about the ones with small sticks in the wheel that would "do" things
Like make the driver go up and down, or spin a pair of propellers in the back? Or one in the top? Rolamatic, I think they were called.

I thoroughy enjoyed the quality of the suspension. Sometimes I'd lift the front a little, leaving the back on the ground, and let go, just to feel the bounce.

I numbered them and made "races" in my room all day long. Put them in a starting grid, get a shoebox cover, slowly drag them from the back to the front, and see who crosses the finish line first. They'd tumble on one another so the "pole position" wouldn't always win the "race", but it had the best chance -- just like in a real race. I ran championships.

10. Mego Dolls/Action Figures
They were about 10 inches high, had actual clothes - although the superhero insignias (Superman's S, Batman's chest bat, etc.) were stickers that soon were lost. I had Batman, Robin, Superman, the Hulk, Spiderman, and the only bad guy, the Penguin, got his butt kicked a lot. They weren't that sturdy because while they had actual shoulder and leg sockets as well as knees and elbows that bent and wrists and ankles that swiveled, and that was cool, they were also the pieces that broke easily. I think my most complete one after a few months of playing ws the Hulk, and he was missing one forearm and one lower leg.

26. Stuffed dog.
Sold as "Henry" by Sears (I think it was), mine of course was given a more individualized name. I dressed him, took him everywhere ... used to say I'd die with him in my arms. The ultimate expression of devotion when you're 5, I guess. :)

I still have him in my closet. Just a few days ago, one of my dogs got in there and pulled him out. Thankfully she didn't tear him up, just left him on the floor - or there would have been hell to pay, let me tell you. Interesting, though, that she made a beeline for that particular toy, and ignored all the other plush toys that were stacked up next to him....

52. Yes, that's it. I spelled it wrong...
I had Krissie and a Baby Krissie which was the one that was the same size as a "real baby." Unfortunately, at some point, I decided it was a good idea to cut their hair instead of using the knobs to make it shorter. :-)

Your child is so lucky that you still had yours to pass on. I tried to find one on Ebay a few years ago. I couldn't believe how much money they were going for.

Raggedy Ann! I LOVED her because she had the special secret heart that said 'I Love You'. It was the first thing I learned to read.
My mom worked when I was little, and I carried that doll EVERYWHERE with me because Mom told me that whenever I missed her, I should read the little heart.

My original Raggedy Ann was long gone, but the Christmas before she died, (two Christmases ago) she shocked me and bought me another one as a joke.
Not so much of a joke now that she's gone. I still read that secret heart from time to time.

Actually LOTS of rubber snakes. :-D

Other toy box favorites were a football helmet, a steel Sears semi truck, a battery powered police car with a siren and lights that worked, cap guns, and a toy rifle with a wooden stock that could be "cocked" by moving a handle on the stock and then "fired", making a loud noise.

Barbie and Ken were fun, too, but I busted out all the seams of the Barbie clothes trying to put them on Ken.
