I either need to die young or get wealthy fast, apparently. |
|
I just read the entire Washington Post article about how, under the new Social Security system the GREEDY SELFISH BASTARD FUCKWADS want, I would only get out what I paid into it and any PROFIT GOES BACK TO THE GOVERNMENT and it CAN'T EVEN GO ON TO MY CHILD AFTER MY DEATH.
I got chills, got sick to my stomach and started to cry. We are not wealthy people. We even intentionally had one child thinking we could do a better job financially with one instead of two or three.
But I'm worried sick. Has anyone read that? Everything that comes out of bush's mouth is a pack of nasty filthy lies. You can't inherit the money YOU put in. You can't MAKE any money off of it, only the government does. You can only get a small percentage to live on.
I had sudden visions of buying catfood on sale. And not owning a cat. Melodramatic? I hope it's only that and not reality. I'm very scared.
The Dems in Congress better fight tooth and fucking nail over this. I'm literally sickened.

1. They'll fight. They HAVE to fight. |

At least the booing last night was an indication of where they stand. I can only hope.

I don't want anyone to get me wrong--we do both have 401Ks, but we thought of SS as a supplement to our retirement income. (And the 401Ks really aren't that hot, actually.) And we certainly have been paying in to it all these years--both of us since we were 16 years old. I don't think there's been a single stretch of time since we were 16 that we haven't worked. Sometimes at two jobs. I guess we can say goodbye to this money if it goes through.
Sorry, feeling very pessimistic today. A lot hinges on this. I haven't felt this.....scared in a long time.

4. Same here... have been paying into it for 30 years now. |
|
Even though I couldn't pass it on to my spouse as should be my right... I was at least depending on it as a supplement myself. It's nothing short of robbery. Give to the rich and take from the poor.

7. There's another thing that pisses me off |
|
you should be able to pass it on to whomever you DESIGNATE. It's not up to the government to decide who is important to you.
Fuckers.

8. Yeah... the silver lining here is that now EVERYONE gets to know |
|
what it feels like to realize that it is NOT THEIR MONEY. Why in HELL should I not take that money and give it to anyone I want, indeed? At least as a lump sum... at the very fucking least... I can do that with my pension (even though unfairly again, I cannot designate anyone for pension payments, only a lump sum).

9. I worked 28 years for one company |
|
invested between 2 and 5% of my money in a 401k and when they let me go last August, my balance was $32,000 (no employer match). I've been working since I was 16, I'm 46 as of last Saturday. The first year (77) I worked I made approx $700.00 the last year was approx 47,000. Now how are people going to live the rest of their lives off of that kind of money?
