The Nicotine patch, my dear old friend. Can't wait for the dreams tonight |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 06:15 PM by Worst Username Ever
About to quit for the fifth or so time, this time I am ignoring Zyban, it never works for me. The patch has been successful in the past, until through my own fault I relapse 6-8 months later. I am looking forward to the vivid, vivid dreams that will come tonight. Better than a movie.

1. My honey is using Committ lozenges |
|
the patch doesn't work for him. He needs the immediate nicotine punch of the lozenges.
I'm so glad I'm not addicted to smoking.
Good luck! :hi:

12. You are supposed to wean by tapering down |
|
Of course, then you get hooked on the lozenges. Which don't hurt you at all like smoking does. But they're 3X more expensive.

the only thing that works, in my humble opinion, is cold turkey.

5. Well, they HAVE worked, my problem is 6 months down the line |
|
when I am at the bar and decide to just have "0ne" when I am with my friends. The next time I am out it is two, then when I am having a beer by myself I'll go grab a pack to have "just one," or "in my car in traffic," you get the picture. I need to avoind having that ONE cig later in the year. The initial quit is usually only modestly painful, I only smoke about 5 cigs a day.

one here, then two there, then "only if I have a few drinks"
Once you buy a pack, you're fucked./

I recommend you pop in a lozenge while tucking a piece of the gum in your cheek and slapping on a patch as you down a Zyban. Tobacco company fuckers.

29. Don't blame the Tobacco companies |
|
You, like me, are 100% responsible for our own self destructive habits.
But it is hard to think of more unscrupulous characters than the heads of Tobacco companies, especially the ones who tried to pretend that smoking was in no way dangerous to your health.

Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 07:31 PM by Worst Username Ever
once you start, they know damn well how addictive it is and had to have the pants sued off of them to finally admit it. It's been proven that they market their product to those well under 18, those who don't have the capacity to make an informed decision.
Plus they lobby tons of $$$ to the pukes.
I still hate them.

I agree with everything you said.
But we do have control over ourselves. You can stop smoking. No amount of nicotine and no Tobacco executive can force you to light up and inhale

give you vivid dreams? I've been thinking about buying a batch just for the entertainment value. Do you need the strong ones or will the weak ones do?

9. If you smoke less than 10 cigs a day, they tell you to start at step 2 |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 06:27 PM by Worst Username Ever
If you don't smoke, I don't think there is a physician in the world that would recommend even doing step 3 (the weakest), since hey, why introduce yourself to nicotine, you could risk addiction.
That being said, I bet step 3 would work
If you slap one on and start to get sweaty/hot, that is the equivalent of getting sick from a 1st cigarrette, I would remove it pronto.

...Frank's Original Hot Sauce!
Straight from the bottle!
Sip it whenever you get a craving for a smoke.
It cured me six years ago.
And it's a lot cheaper than nicotine supplementation, Zyban, etc.

I have been down that road so many times. I LOVED the dreams but could never stay off the cigs too long after I quit the patch. Got hooked on the lozenges. Hang in there. Picture some good old boy in a nice suit, cowboy boots on his mahogany desk smoking a stogie and watching the money roll in from all of us poor, hooked suckers. That vision and deep, deep breaths kept me from going back the last time.

J/K! Nicotine itself is not a carcinogen, from what I understand. Not that it is all that good for you, but at least you aren't inhaling smoke or eliminating your gums with a big ole slab or Redman. Wean away, Vikegirl

The dreams were really cool, too. Then there were the times I would be dying for a smoke and hit the gum on top of the patch. Speak of a pick me up! I would be buzzing all around my office.. :)
