Game 5. A's were up 2-0 and are now tied 2-2. Yankees waiting in the wings. A's with a recent history of playoff meltdowns. Sox with a Biblical history of playoff heartbreak.

Barry Zito, reigning Cy Young winner v. Pedro, former Cy Young winner. Basically, two of the best pitchers in baseball teeing it up for a decisive game.

Fucking Amsterdam.

What time is this game on?

Actually, I have no idea of how it's been going. I didn't even know there was a big game last night.

2. Speaking of Biblical history...
..is it true that a Red Sox-Cubs World Series is a sign of the Apocalypse?

19. OMG
I was just telling my husband about this last night. IIRC, there's a verse in Revelation that goes something like "when the small bear faces the stockings of scarlet, behold! saith the Lord, the time is nigh for my return."

25. If the Red Sox win
then the Curse of the Bambino will be broken and the fabric of reality will slowly begin to unravel!

5. Could you find out for me?
The time will depend on whether I am staying up late or getting up early. Thanks.

7. He's right, 8 PM Eastern
So that must be 1 or 2 AM in Dutchville.

The Red Sox are actually favored with Pedro, a 2/3 (bet 3 to win 2) chalk according to the Las Vegas sportsbooks.

on the local Fox channel. Barry Zito vs. Pedro.
Has the makings of a classic. Do they have
Fox network in Europe ?

What if you're still over there and Boston wins the World Series!

Could you stand it? :grouphug:

6. I'll be back in time
If the Sox win tonight, I will likely miss a good portion of the ALCS. If we somehow win tonight *and* beat the Yankees, I'll be back for the festivities.

9. There should never have been ...
a game 4.

I have never seen such biased officiating in all of my life.

Prepare for a long ride home.

Cheers

26. let's hope the sox don't get home until at least friday....
Tejada would have been awarded home if he had just ran home instead of trying to umpire the play.

Varitek was awarded home because he had already been to third. He was interfered with and so they award him the next base.

Byrnes needed to touch the plate to score. No controversy. It's that white square-triangle hybrid near the catcher.

Just giving you a hard time drifter. I am certain that tonight's game is going to be a battle.

11. First pitch at 8:19 Eastern

I'm not sure my stomach can take much more of this. Plus I have a meeting at 7. I hope we can get through it quickly. It would probably not be cool to sit through a Planning Board meeting with a radio plugged into my ear. But it's a thought.

You gotta love their chances. :)

for the first pitch.

Hope you're able to find someplace to watch it. Would you like me to pop a tape in the VCR and record it for you just in case.?

13. this Yankee fan says "Go, Sox!" . . .
love to see a NY/BoSox ALCS . . . whichever team wins tonight, though, is gonna be at a disadvantage, having to fly 3000 miles to play the Yanks tomorrow night . . . still and all, it's a great rivalry, and both stadiums will be rockin' . . . Yanks in 6 . . . or maybe 7 . . . :)

16. Epic?
It's a game five in the ALDS, and that's always worth watching, I'll grant you that much. But, epic? Perhaps a game seven in the LCS can be called epic, perhaps. I'd prefer to reserve that for the big show, however.

The real question: Which team will turn out to be the big tease, once again?

and after they win this one, it stil will be.....

And Sox have a pretty good record against the Yankees. I think they can pull it off!

18. As a lifelong Red Sox fan
I have one guiding principle when it comes to my beloved Sox:

"They can't break your heart until they make you believe".

So I'll watch the game and be hopeful. And if they win, it will come as somewhat of a surprise to me.

23. It's only epic if the winner trashes the Yankees in the ALCS
I'm rooting for whichever team can beat the Yankees.

I think they both can do it, but I'm not sure.
