I prided myself on passing as a moderate conservative that injected just enough liberalism to get people questioning what they thought, but not enough to set off alarms.

Well, I pushed a little to hard on a thread about the German "threat" to arrest Rumsfeld on his visit. They didn't take to well to the suggestion that the treatment of Gitmo detainees makes this legally and morally permissible.

It was fun while it lasted, from October 3 to February 4... a solid four months.

Without giving yourself away, if you can, any other people with good posts counts?

Trying to be fair again. Unfortunately, being fair won't get us far in the current political climate. It was never very effective, to be honest. Democrats used to be hard-nosed politicians who could duke it out with the best of em. Think LBJ - he was actually a son-of-a-bitch to cross politically. but isn't that attitude sort of what helped us lose the election? I mean, the fact that we weren't able or willing to play "hardball" like the Republicans. It made us look soft and in this "age of terror" it probably cost us thousands of votes in the battleground states.

Plus it seems sort of pointless to discuss policy matters only with people who agree with you, IMO.

though, in my defense, I don't consider posting there, knowing that I don't believe in their cause, trolling because I wasn't trying to hide that fact that I was challenging them. I didn't introduce myself as a liberal, but through my posts made it known that I wasn't toeing the Republican line.

And I wasn't be deliberately provacative, posting flamebait or being personal. Overall, I think trolling disruptors shouldn't be tolerated.

I frown upon that here and wouldn't spread it elsewhere. If there are Freepers in our midst who are doing the same thing I did, i.e., being moderate and respectful, but leaning (at least in the posts) slightly more the other way than the average poster, that's fine by me. Honestly, it's about the the values and the rightness of the ideas.

Let them post here in a civil way. Challenge us from the right and let the truth of our position win out.

Unfortunately for my FR account, they don't have the same view! Challenge the orthodoxy too much and you get kicked, truth be damned. And hey, I may not have been right about Rumsfled, but they never even wanted to hear my case to prove me wrong - and that's sad for them.

15. It's purely entertainment

It's challenging. You need to look up specific facts to back up what you're saying to those people, have to craft your message carefully, and need to effectively respond to criticism.

I learned more about issues there at times than I did here - I think it just flows naturally from people thinking you're wrong, you're forced to convince them otherwise.

It's my reality TV, spend a few minutes a day, that's all you need.

26. Wi-Fi Fun...

A friend has been having fun with his wireless system. He's able to connect with other computers, using their IP addresses...or using them through annonymous third party sites and having all sorts of fun.

He lives in a large apartment complex so there's plenty of units within range and most are "unlocked"...easy for him to worm into their internet connection. He posts on a lot of message boards and likes to have fun with sites that try to ban the IP and he pops up inside their system under a new one.

"Congrats" on surviving that den of iniquity of that long. While I enjoy reading some of the more outrageous threads there, I wouldn't last two posts on the place. LOL.

The day before Boxer stood. I told them that their country is being stolen right out from underneath them and they don't even see it. I said that I hoped Boxer stood (it was rumored at the time that she was thinking of it), and that every Dem there stood with her. Bang, I was gone.

I don't know how in the world anyone can follow that site...what a nasty looking format.
