It sometimes makes me very nauseated, though. Hopefully it's helping with whatever you need it for.

no more ice pick stabbing being felt in my ear.
ear infections suck. Had to get a shot, antibiotics, ear drops, and lortab for pain.
I already take an nsaid, so he gave me 3 days worth until it calms down.
thanks for your thoughts.

I've successfully treated my kids' ear infections with garlic-mullein ear drops (available in health food stores), along with Vitamin C, zinc and echinacea.
Obligatory disclaimer-- I am not a physician, nor do I play one on TV.

5. I get chronic ear infections |
|
which cant be fixed with surgery (checked).
The last one I had lasted for 3 weeks. The doctor had to do a culture (cut into the ear drum) to figure out which antibiotic would kill the f*cker. I have fluid backed up inside my ear constantly. All of this due to (I believe) a SCUBA diving accident.
The Lortab is actually just for pain. I took it tonight so I can sleep, and hopefully my fever will come down shortly as well.
Thanks for the info.

I have an acute otitis externa and media.
It hurts very badly (hence my ice-pick comment above).
I'm already on Naproxen (perscription alieve) twice a day and that didn't help. The doctor gave me the script this morning.

warming up some olive oil and dropping that in your ears? I used to get that all the time because I spent so much time in the ocean. Give it a try, it always help me and it was soothing too. It'll really feel cool on the Loritabs.

I have pretty good reactions to drugs (aka don't have them), so the lortab has been enough for me to kill the pain.
The shot I got earlier seems to be helping to, the (this is gross) ear is no longer constantly draining...

11. I had earaches constantly as a kid |

there is *nothing* worse. I feel for you. I walked around half my life with my head tlted to one side protecting my ear. I remember my mom putting hydrogen peroxide in it and it bubbling. Weird how I can sit here as an adult and still feel that bubbling effect. I'm glad the loritabs helped you with that awful pain. I think they gave me headaches cause I was taking so much after brain surgery. I got into that cycle of coming down and needing it. The percocettes are for something entirely different now, and I rarely need them like I use to. TG!

A bottle of about 30 pills usually lasts me 1-2 years. I have occassionally have intractable migrains, and the these ear infections. I usually only take it to sleep or if its beeing extrememly painful. Not fun, but they work. I hate being kinda woosey.

It'll be ok. I probably won't take anymore.
You have to be nice and ask -- but not be too pushy.
my line "Dr. I am having a lot of pain due to this infection. I have tried 500mg Alieve 2/day, and although it helps, its still not doing very much. Could I get something stronger for a couple of days until the antibiotics take effect?"
Dr: "Sure, no problem"
Keep in mind that every physician in the area has acess to every other physcian's prescriptions -- so he can tell pretty quickly wether I do this one-two times a year or monthly.
