Non Super-Bowl watchers---what are you doing tonight?
I hate sports, I hate football, and I honest to god couldn't tell you who is playing today. Hell, I didn't even know that the Super Bowl WAS today. So, for my fellow non-superbowl watchers, what are your plans tonight?

I plan on having a double feature of the brilliant Dennis Potter films 'The Singing Detective' and 'Pennies from Heaven'. Not the american re-makes, but the original BBC versions.

1. I am going to watch "Ray" on the
DVD in the other room. And then I am going to read some more of Pete Hamill's wonderful new book "Downtown."

3. Phone banking.
Not certain this is a good idea to call people during the Super Bowl but we have to defeat the Phelps petition to the city.

6. He petitioned people
here to add an anti gay amendment to the city. It is the very same one that Cincinnati had and finally got rid of. It denys protection from discrimination to GLBT people. He gathered signatures under false pretenses and many people discovered this and had their names removed but all in all, he got enough to put it to a vote. We have only until the 2nd of March to try to get the word out here and figure out how to defuse this. It should have been easy, Fred is not well liked here and nobody really wants him having this kind of power here, but we have been over run by outsiders pushing this and the gay marriage issue since that comes up for a vote a month later. It has become very emotional and that is what they want. If people really think about it we should be able to defeat it easily but they are being swayed. I am terrified of this so I am phone banking every evening this week and picketing, we simply have to let people know what they are actually voting for.

Are going bowling.
