Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 03:18 PM by CanuckAmok

1. I voted for DOA, but no Propaghandi on the list?
Granted they are more current but still a worthy entry in the Canadian punk category. Also their offshoot band the Weakerthans.

4. The Weakerthans - how are they an offshoot of DOA

Are they not from Edmonton? Or were you speaking of Propaghandi. The Weakerthans are wonderful

Is SNFU Canadian?

5. Forgotten Rebels.
From Toronto, The Forgotten Rebels.

Been around since 1977.

F*ck me Dead is my favorite.

F*ck me Dead

I don't like the name tag between your toes.
I don't like the snot running out of your nose.
I don't like the stains on your pantyhose - just your cold stiff body when I hold you close.
I love rigor mortis when it just sets in.
I know where you're goin' I don't care where you've been.
A pillow in a coffin's just as good as a bed and baby how I love it when you f*ck me dead.
Baby how I love it when you f*ck me dead.
..
Baby, baby, I'll hold you close.
Quick, quick before you decompose.

Great stuff.

Just thinking about slamdancing to them give me black and blue marks
all over. :)

6. From Hamilton/Stoney Creek, actually...
...I didn't include them, because their decline into makeup wearing quasi-glam pub rock was so damned soul-less.

8. Opps, Hamilton...

Yeah you're right. They are from Hamilton, Ontario.

I mostly saw the rebels in Buffalo New York, Eg at the Continental
in Downtown Buffalo. I also saw them open up for the Clash
post-Mick Jones at UB.

I didn't really think they were glam. But I always thought
they had a sense of humor and just generally pissed off at everything.

Nemaste.

17. Yeah, well you wouldn't say that if you've heard "Into The Unknown"...
They can release a million albums more in addition to the million they've already released with the same chord progressions, galloping drum beats, and 10 dollar words in the lyrics and it will never make up for that album.

They may be a good band, but "punk" they ceased to be after their first album that's fer damn sure.

18. Bad Relition fans are usually zealots, I've found...
...and even Bad Religion recognises that problem:

"...I don't believe in self-important bands who preach,
No 'Bad Religion' song can make your life complete..."

on edit: when I was a Peacekeeper, my unit kept getting free cassettes from Fringe in Toronto. Not only am I amazed they were permitted (Imaging being a military mail clerk and opening a package containing "Feed us a Fetus" by the Dayglow Abortions), I'm amazed that anyone though we'd enjoy listening to them (which most if us did).
