What are you going to do instead of watching Superbowl? |
|
I'm hanging out in my condo on a rainy Seattle afternoon with my cat. I don't do football (just baseball). I just opened a bottle of French Rhone wine and was thinking about watching the movie "Chilly Scenes of Winter" on the Flix cable channel. Just about to start.
Anybody seen it?
I just can't do football (I do love baseball though.)
Anybody else got some good things going that don't have to do with football?

2. Watching the "Puppy Bowl" on Animal Planet. |
|
It's kinda cute. It's also funny to watch the "Ref" come out periodically to clean up the "Puppy Fouls".

8. What a hoot! I turned it on,, thanks. |

They're soooooo cuuuuuuute!!! Puppy "fouls" and all.
I love the one chewing the shoe. When I had my Golden Retriever as a puppy, I lived with two other women in their 20s, and my dog ate one of each pair of their shoes and boots. I spent a fortune replacing them.
Puppy Bowl! Much better than Super Bowl!

11. Avoiding housework by posting here.... |
|
And listening to the "Sounds of the Seasons" on cable "radio." Since the current season is Mardi Gras, they're playing a bunch of New Orleans rock, blues & jazz. Dr John just finished singing about the Wild Tchopitoulas & "Hot Tamale Baby" by Buckwheat Zydeco just started.
To be pedantic, modern zydeco arose in Houston, not New Orleans. Clifton Chenier mixed R&B with old style, rural zydeco in the clubs frequented by homesick Creoles who'd moved to Big Houston for work. The word "zydeco" was first used in a blues tune by Lightnin' Hopkins, married to Mr. Chenier's cousin. NOT to be pedantic--no excuse is ever needed to play zydeco.

12. Hey, Bridget, thanks for the zydeco education |
|
I am zydeco-ignorant. I love blues and jazz but zydeco -- just ignorant. Interesting that it came up in Houston.
Anyway, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who avoids housework by hanging out at DU. I thought that was my secret!

15. Cleaning out my junk drawer. |
|
I kid you not. Ahhh ... sense of accomplishment.
The Super Bowl, and American football in general, make me want to slit my wrists. I don't know why, I've always found them just terribly depressing.
I checked in with Paul McCartney for a minute, but even that kinda depressed me because I think about what happened to John Lennon ...
Jeez, I'm not a lot of fun, am I?

for dinner and movie. It is the best day for it! The theater parking lot was only 1/3 full, and the restaurants are nice and quiet. Yesterday we finally saw Phantom of the Opera. I think it's important to go out and let the world know that some people don't give a rat's ass about Superbowl Sunday.
