"House of the Flying Daggers" is the most beautiful movie I've |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 10:03 PM by KoKo01
ever seen. Breathtaking...the colors the scenery...oh my eyes. But, unlike "Hero" ...Flying Dragons is a beautiful Chinese Love Story...or Chinese "Chick Flick" to be accurate.
Still..all you folks who remember the beauty of David Lean's Cinematography, "Dr. Zhivago," "Lawrence of Arabia," and others need to know that this movie bests the best of David Lean...but has some connections to his view of what makes a scene stay in one's mind.
"Hero" didn't seem popular on DU...but for those who did love it...this film takes cinematography of that one to the next level.
I've never seen a film like it...and I've seen alot..:D
Anyone else seen it? Agree or disagree?

1. Have you seen "Girl with a Pearl Earring" |
|
It's gorgeous - I'm a major Vermeer fan and it's shot in the style of his paintings. So, if "House of Flying Daggers" is as beautiful, I'll have to watch it!

4. It's on my list for rentals...Sadly I missed it...but I love artists |
|
and painting and everything to do with color. So, I think you would find this interesting.

2. I actually walked out on it |
|
only the third time in my life I've walked out of a movie. I thought it sucked bigtime. I was ready to scream from boredom.
And I don't get the "beautiful" part - I thought the cinematography was very pedestrian.

3. Really? That's amazing to me....but I did ask...and warn that it's |
|
maybe more appealing to some than others.

I just don't understand the great reviews it got. I loved Hero and this was compared very favorably to it.... but I was bored 30 minutes into it, and it never got any better. At an hour and forty, I was about to scream, so I left instead.

7. my wife & I saw it months ago |
|
when we were in China... my wife loved it and thinks it is better than Hero. Unfortunately for me, they got the wrong English subtitles on the movie. So, I watched a bit of it and laughed. My wife speaks Mandarin... so, had no problems.
