the Yankees payroll was right in line with the rest of the league when they won their titles. No one complained when they had the highest payroll in the 80s. Did the Red Sox buy their title. They were second in payroll.

When I was in 6th and 7th grade (1994-1995), everyone LOVED either the 49ers or Cowboys. I was the lone Vikings fan, and this was in the heart of VIKINGS COUNTRY (Minneapolis). My younger brother told me about how after the Buccanneers won the Super Bowl, EVERYONE at his school became a Bucs fan.
Now I'm assuming those kids who go to school there now are gonna all be Patriots fans.
That's Junior High kids for you.

24. I didn't like the way Bill Belichick screwed the Jets. |
|
They had groomed him to be their next coach. He waited until after they had made the announcement that they were promoting him, then announced he was taking a job elsewhere. That was as classless a move as I've ever seen. All he had to do was let them know his plans ahead of time. That was not much to ask at all.
I know the media doesn't, but I have a long memory for things like that.

But there are stadards for a 'dynasty.'
See: Steelers 1974-1981.
*That* was a dynasty.
See: The 49ers during the entire Clinton administration.
*That* was a dynasty.
That Pats? Not quite.

I remember when the Redskins were primed to be the team of the 80's.
Then the 49ers won a couple more Super Bowls in the late 80's to take it away.
If the Pats don't win another one this decade, much may be forgotten - especially if someone else can win 3.

I reserve my greatest scorn for the Repukes in power. It's just that being a Philly fan, some of the frustration of not having a championship in so long rubs off on the winning teams.
I heard something about a Moses Malone 4-4-4-4 curse (referring to winning in 4 games.) Karma coming back. Well, all 4 teams have now lost in the big one since 1983, and about 4 years apart. That means the next Philly team to get to the big game or series wins.
Of course, I worry about Reid in the playoffs/Super Bowl against good coaches..

I like the Patriots because they play teamball. You won't see Tom Brady on a video game commercial boasting that he's the best in the league like TO. They don't talk smack, they're a bunch of blue-collar guys and they execute.
But, I won't mind when the Bengals dethrone them next year. Carson Palmer is going to be unleashed, baby! :-D
