The Porpoise
I am working my crap pot line in Five Fathom
Creek down there in South Carolina. I have
started at the ocean end of the creek so as
to work my pots on the falling tide. It is eaiser
that way.

The mud flats covered with marsh grass are
cut here and there by tiny creeks and natural
ditches formed by the tidal rise and fall. The
mouth of the creeks and ditches are good
locations to place a grab pot.

The tide has fallen to almost low tide.
I am pulling a pot close to a very little
ditch. There is very little water flowing from
the.

I hear a great flapping huffing and puffing
from out of the ditch comes zipping a full size
Porpoise, he splashes out into the deeper
water and is gone.

He looked just like a fat man shooting
out of a water slid! Hee! Hee!

A useless story from 180.

3. Once
My sister from Buffalo was visiting. The boat for a few seconds was surrounded by Porpoise, doing porpoise things. I said "Damn Lois look at all the sharks, what are we gonna do?" Yes they are fun to watch. I have senn them in the most unexpected places, including the fresh/tidal waters of the Santee Rivers.

4. Treasure that encounter
The closest I have ever been to a porpoise (or dolphin), other than the Seaquarium, was when I was on Biscayne Bay in Miami and a school of dolphins swam past the boat. That was a real thrill!!

11. South of Cancun in a couple parks they have nice dolphin encounters
that are real respectful of the animals... the parks are eco-based and the animals are treated better that sea world or some US plastic zoo...

My kid did it a couple years ago, and it was a cool experience.

9. Thank you Lone Liberal
There were many days I could have used some help.

I know you are one who would greatly enjoy the rivers the creeks

the storms that make one believe, the heartbreak of robbed or stolen or empty pots.

the gaters sunning ashore getting warmed up for the hunt

the wild cat swimming across the waterway, angry at my presence.

And glory in the natural beauty of the earth, wind and water.

By golly, I think I will go back. Someday. Maybe.

That a dolphin is the only other creature that has sex for fun? In other words a she-dolphin gets more than I do in baseball season! :(

13. Yes
I saw a TV article about that. Seems human females at certain times are subjected to unusual attention from male dolphins?
