New PETA Billboard Features Nude Dennis Rodman

<snip>

NEW YORK -- Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has gotten naked for a billboard for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The ad for the animal rights group shows Rodman -- in profile -- displaying his many tattoos. The copy says, "Think Ink, Not Mink: Be Comfortable in Your Own Skin and Let Animals Keep Theirs."

Rodman said he's "very against people mistreating animals in any fashion."

He was once known for wearing fur, but says he got "a totally different perspective" after watching a PETA video.

Rodman, 43, added that he's not ashamed to show his 6-foot-8 body.

The billboard by PETA will appear in New York and Los Angeles in the next few weeks.

It was displayed this week at invitation-only designer shows in New York, shielded by tents.

1. I never in my life would have considered a fur, ever, but if it would
cover that up, I'm all for it.

The man no longer has any career, anyway, does he?

2. That's what I love about PETA . . .
Their using promotional techniques that will ensure the largest possible number of potential supporters dismiss them as trashy wackos.

Frankly, I think the trashy wacko niche is a bit narrow to build a mass movement on.

But then I don't buy into this whole "animal rights" thing at all. Rather than believing that animals have rights, I believe human beings have responsibilities toward them. Which is not the same thing at all.

However, I also EAT animals (after they're dead of course), so my point of view is unlikely to coincide with PETA's anyway.

3. If you think animals deserve humane treatment
then you and PETA may have more common ground than you think

5. I have to disagree
I believe animals deserve humane treatments and there are many organizations I can work with to help promote humane treatments other than PETA. PETA alienates too many folks with their radical advertising and any chance of me supporting them was lost with the "eating meat=jewish holocaust" ad they did a few years back

4. Thank you, I whole heartedly agree
A few years ago they compared eating meat to the Jewish Holocaust. Although I'm a meat eater, I've always been keen on Peta's message when it came to animal abuses especially when it came to fur coats, rodeos, circuses etc.

But after that holocaust thing personally - PETA is a bunch of nut jobs that I can't be bothered with. And if you're a PETA member maybe you'll help get this message back to the idiots that do their PETA promotions. No one says you have to change your mission statement, but some of the adds aren't going to get support from folks like me who are borderline potential PETA members

6. Did You See Rodman's Odd Behavior During "Celebrity Poker" Tournament?
If I recall correctly, he threw his cards down (indicating he wanted to fold) and therefore lost the hand... yet he claimed that that it wasn't his intention to fold. --- I can't recall the specifics, but that's the gist of what happened.

He got all pissy and walked out of the game (BEING PLAYED FOR CHARITY) because HE didn't want to play by the rules. He eventually was persuaded to return to the game, but at that point he just played foolishly and was quickly eliminated.

He's a very ODD person with very PECULIAR behavior. I suppose he and Peta are a good match.

8. I don't care how many of you don't like PETA,
but all I have to say is good for Dennis. It's great that some people have compassion for animals.

9. Hahahahahahahaha! That's hysterical!
Ok, Rodman's weird, but the IDEA is brilliantly funny.
