I did a google.ca search for "Quebec jokes." The first hit is some kind of jingoistic anglophile site bashing French Quebeckers. They tried to make a topten list, but couldn't even muster ten jokes. Totally unfunny.

The second hit is a story from CNN called "Conan O'Brien apologizes to Canadians." O'Brien's apology was funny. The Canadians quoted in the story were not.

The third hit is a message board where a Canadian tells a bad joke about anglophones, and then, claiming to be "English" himself, apologizes if it causes offense. Not to worry, assures one of the message board's Holy Advisors, it's really the context that determines whether such a joke is offensive. Way not funny.

Conclusion: Canadians are not funny. They are too nice.

Doug, the boyfriend. You wouldn't know anything about him, of course, but Doug has an incredibly smart sense of humor. One of the funniest people I've ever met. And, granted, I'm a bit prejudiced. But Doug's whip smart sense of humor is but one reason why I love him so damned much.
