So this morning I find out I'm getting married in Vegas. I need help...
Give me suggestions on how we should do this. Who we should invite. Who we shouldn't invite. Theme wedding or not. Who should be marrying us. Where? Best reception area? Any help will be very helpful!

61. Oops sorry. Here's how I see it
We build a volcano and work out this whole tiki theme, right. I'm talkin spears and palm trees and Martin Denny music and big things like this:

Then we get we have a giant fish tank filled with jellyfish with little berets attached to em. And women in mermaid suits. This will be the backdrop cause the whole things inside the volcano, right?

These are the color schemes I'm seein':

You with me now?

You'll both be dressed in leotards and swimmies. You know - these things:

K - the moment the ceremony is over and the reception begins 150 Jim Morrison Impersonators carry you to the tank and toss youu in where you symbolize your love by slaying the jellyfish which are then served as the entre'

In staid of cake you have canolis and hash brownies.

Plus, remember, you've been tripping the whole time.

What do you think?

28. Ooh! Ask me! We got married in Vegas a year ago valentine's day!
And it was the BEST way to go (for us, anyway). I looked at AAAAAALL of our options there before deciding on the MGM Grand (lovely, elegant and non-tacky chapel). My first narrowing down eliminated all but the hotels, because 1. I liked their package deals better, and 2. it was extremely convenient for our out-of-town guests.

The prices range greatly depending on where you have it and what you want included. At the MGM, we customized one of their packages and paid $1100 which included:

--the ceremony, including the officiant's fee
--use of the chapel
--my bouquet
--my attendants' bouquets, my mom's corsage & men's bouttonnieres
--a pianist
--complete photography package, including album (and the photo quality was outstanding; we were surprised and delighted with what we got, and we took it with us the day after the ceremony. No waiting for proofs!)
--use of the dressing rooms
--our own wedding coordinator who ran the thing like a PRO
--a "gift" for us, which was a nice ice bucket with a bottle of decent champagne, two champagne flutes, and "sensual spa products" that were actually very nice (bath salts and massage oil).

You can add more or have less to these packages (at any of the hotels). The stress that this saved me by letting the hotel handle it in one package was immeasurable, and allowed me to actually enjoy the day. We had our reception as an informal dinner at one of the hotel's restaurants, and even had our cake done through the hotel bakery, coordinated with the restaurant. I would absolutely do it the same way if I had to do it over again.

Here's what I recommend: Go to the websites of the hotels in Vegas (and the chapels, too, if you think you don't want to use a hotel), and look for their links to their wedding packages. Narrow that down to a manageable list of those that look appealing to you, then call them and request their printed brochures. Those will include a little more info than what's on the website, and you'll get full-color photos that will give you a good idea of what the chapel looks like, the flowers look like, etc. If you want any more info, PM me.

33. Heeeeeeeeee! Thanks, but you won't even need one.
Everyone who knows me was amazed that I voluntarily relinquished control of much of the wedding to someone else, as I'm just a tad anal-retentive. I had lists and charts to keep things organized like you wouldn't believe.

Seriously, the hotels (and other chapels) do so many of these that they have the routine down flawlessly. We didn't have to worry about a thing, just picked out what we wanted and left the rest to them.

45. I got married the second time in Las Vegas (in 1996)
Stayed at the Maxim (which was okay) and had our wedding dinner at the Flamingo (which was fabulous).
In our case, we just invited family, but I'd suggest you invite whoever you want (I have no idea how big a deal you two want to make of this -- ours was pretty low-key and performed by a minister at one of the many chapels strewn across LV).
I'd definitely recommend the Flamingo for the dinner, though -- it was awesome (at least to these central Michigan hayseeds).
John
The marriage lasted 26 months, by the way.
