6. False.
You pick up a ball, walk a couple of paces and release said ball down a lane in the hopes of knocking over some pins. I think of bowling more as a recreational activity instead of a sport. Same as billiards.

7. Sure, it qualifies in a number of categories
Aside from the concept of hitting a target, you've got the weight-lifting dimension--16 pound balls, 12 ounce curls!

10. Yes it is

15. Sorry, that's what I meant, didn't word it well
It is a sport for those who play seriously and the pros, but is just entertainment for most of us others. It's like basketball - shooting by yourself isn't a sport, but playing in a game is.

11. Of course it is
Remember what Homer taught us - "If horse racing is the sport of kings, then surely bowling is a...very good sport also."

25. TRUE
As any bowler knows.

If building hot rod cars is a sport (ad that's what people call it), then bowling surely qualifies.

BTW...

sport:

1.an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition
2.  the occupation of athletes who compete for pay
3.  verbal wit (often at another's expense but not to be taken seriously); "he became a figure of fun"
4.  (biology) an organism that has characteristics resulting from chromosomal alteration
5.  someone who engages in sports
6.  (Maine colloquial) temporary summer resident in inland Maine
7.  play boisterously; "The children frolicked in the garden"; "the gamboling lambs in the meadows"; "The toddlers romped in the palyroom"
8.  wear or display in an ostentatious or proud manner; "she was sporting a new hat"
