1. As a hunter in MN, I would say the answer is a decided "b."

By far, the majority of hunters and fishermen/women I meet are repubs. That is not to say I have not met fellow dems (such as my brother in law) but the majority sure seems to be B.

edited for typos

2. Possibly so, but I'd think the percentages should be fairly close....
...across the country.

3. hunters over here tend to be conservative types
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 06:25 PM by McKenzie
anyone who aligns themself with the left over here equates hunting with being a redneck oaf. However, a lot of the most elegant and spiritual writing I've read comes from committed hunters.

It's a great paradox. I'm a dyed in the wool liberal-lefty but the thought of sitting in the reeds at dawn, during a freezing winter's morning, waiting for morning flight, is about as close to nirvana as I can get without reading the dictionary definition.

This shows, in stark detail, the dangers of pigeonholing people on the basis of how they behave. I'd man the barricades if the fascists came for gay people. I'd man them too if some zealots tried to stop me hunting. As I say, a paradox indeed.

Why do I know this post will draw the heat?

edit: speling problemmm cozed by red wyne.

5. It shouldn't draw any real heat, Mac. It just shows how complex
people are; especially lefties like us. I mean, look at Teddy Roosevelt: Here was a gung-ho rah-rah war-war type if there ever was one. He could give lessons in jingoism and uberpatriotism to today's right-wingers. He was also a vainglorious big game hunter. At the same time, he was passionate about environmental conservation, a pristine outdoors for Americans to enjoy, to say nothing of his fight to get a fair deal for the working man. It's rare to see that sort of complexity in today's political animal; not to mention today's Republican.

No heat from me, man. B-) Enjoy your hunting! :smoke:

6. thnx my friend
I come from a long line of lefties, many of whom fished/shot.

Alienate people like me and they vote against the abolitionists...which is silly because we all need to pull (no pun) together.

8. As another great bespectacled American said:
"If we don't hang together, we shall most assuredly hang seperately."

7. ROFL! I'm a staunch Yeller Dawg, but my shooting iron is within reach...
...and I love hunting and fishing! Tolerance for others is a more common trait of Liberals.

4. Most I've met are pretty independent
I'd say they may lean slightly conservative, but most aren't freepers or anything.
