Looking for a Jefferson quote |
|
I have googled far too long and can't find it. It is something along the lines of it being patriotic to question government or authority, I can't remember which.
Any assistance is appreciated!

9. Are you a vet of Gulf War I or Gulf War II? |
|
I was in the Gulf Feb-March 1991. I was armed with an M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank with a 120mm smoothbore Rheinmetall gun. The rubber turkey was my secret last-ditch weapon. :-)
 back atcha. Thanks!

I remember when our C-130 landed at King Khalid Military City. We got off the plane into a dusty, frayed-at-the-edges tent city. I remember thinking to myself: "Man, this is REAL! I could DIE!"
I was scared out of my mind.

I was pretty scared. I just was out of basic for maybe 3 weeks, went to Germany and then Iraq. We were worried about getting gassed or ambushed, whatever we could worry about, we did.
The troops over there now I think have it a little worse than we did. I can imagine how scared they are.

It took the most courage to figure how to go without a toilet, over there, they don't have any, just a hole in the ground and a pitcher of water...LOL.

16. I was in Northern Iraq (Zachu, Dohuk, and Mosul briefly) |

from April-July of 91. I was there after the "Mission" was supposedly accomplished, the first time, anyway....LOL.
You had a lot more firepower than me, I had an M60 or M16, and a 45 at my side. I have one of those Vanmark figurines of a woman soldier in a humvee turret with an M-60. That was me..LOL.

Heck, I never got out of Saudi Arabia. If our base hadn't been Scudded, I would never have seen hostile fire. Some hero, huh? :7

The scariest it really got was looking into gunshots that were fired, and avoiding mines. A kid handed our first sergeant a mine...he had a "bf"..LOL.

12. "...and that his justice will not sleep forever." |
|
Remainder of the quote, often omitted. From Jefferson's "Notes on the State of Virginia", in reference specifically to slavery...but we've done a lot more than just that at this point.

14. This is his very best ...and is perfect for today...as we fight with JK... |
|
"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to it's true principles.
It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt...... yet if the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."
Thomas Jefferson, 1798
