Double Dipping not OK...What about sharing food with your pets? ...
For example, using the same utensil to feed your dog licks of ice cream. I say.. It's ok as long as your dog isn't a poop eater.

2. Not a problem
But icecream is very bad for dogs. The milk and the sugar can cause a very unpleasant reaction. My first dog developed explosive diarehha from eating vanilla icecream.

4. Believe me, I only give them a tiny taste
A total of about a teaspoon each. It doesn't seem to affect them at all.

24. So does my dog.
The only problem is that they are so darn expensive and I can't find them in all of the grocery stores.

28. Hey! You know...
"Explosive Diarrhea" would be a really great name for a band! (Apologies to Dave Barry.)

Hmm... on second thought, it wouldn't.

3. Yuck. No.
Now, they are allowed to lick the plate when I am done. And then the plate gets WASHED. In very hot water.

I don't mind :) I'm a vegetarian though, so they usually don't want to buy what I'm selling. I'm alone for most of the day, I can't be mean to my only companions!

6. Dogs can transmit some nasty germs to humans.
I love my 3 dogs with all my heart...but I wash my hands before eating after playing with them, and they don't share silverware or dishes with me while I am eating.

Diseases dogs can transmit to humans

I'm convinced that my dogs are hiding vestigial opposable thumbs which they use to suft the net while we're at work.

26. I think it is a public service, because that myth...
...is so ubiquitous, and so flatly wrong.

Dogs pass on many illnesses to kids, repeatedly.

21. I doubt that's really true, but it probably doesn't matter all that much
Our bodies are built to fight germs, and ingesting tiny amounts here and there is good for building immunity. I recently read that it's beneficial for young children to pick their nose and eat it, for that exact reason.

17. Germ freaks will probably be concerned
I'm not a germ freak at all. Remember that Seinfeld episode?

My pets are dewormed and have all their shots, so I'm not too worried.

7. I won't even share my food with humans
It is one of my quirks. I have this thing about people asking me for a taste of my food, either from the plate or the utensil.

25. me too, but I don't think it is a quirk. It's a quirk by the morons who
always have eyes for what's on someone else's plate. People who want to sample should order their own. WHat I notice is it is always the same people. When I see something that looks good on someone else's plate, I don't keep staring at it hoping for an offer by the other diner. I order one for myself as I would never ask to sample from someone else's plate.

I'm not a bastard..lol. I don't understand how people can have the nerve to ask if they can try something that I am in the middle of eating.

30. Hey one time this one woman was looking at my plate so
closely I thought she was going to fall off her chair. (I wished she would have; maybe it would stop her from snooping on others' plates). I was also VERY glad her damned nose wasn't dripping as I would have had to reorder.

14. I share food with the cats, my understanding is the human mouth
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 01:52 PM by barb162
is "germier" than animal mouths. Been doing it for years. But I will tell you, I do not like to share with humans. If somebody wants to sample something off my plate, they can take a sample from my used fork, but I don't want other humans taking a sample off of my own plate. Better to order their own. I HATE IT when in restaurants people have big eyes for what's on my plate and want samples. Order your own!

15. My cats are spoiled
Mind you, I live alone, and that means I eat alone, but it really doesn't. It means that I eat and break off a little bitty piece of meat for each of my cats. Sometimes one little bite is all they want, sometimes they want the whole damn plate!

Mine does. She'll do anything for a piece. I trained her to do lots of dog type tricks with deli ham.
