This Freeper is a model of compassionate conservatism |
|
To: owls_man The study found disturbing incidents of violence against people simply because they are homeless. wrong they are not "simply homeless" They are drains on society. They seem to find time to beg for money and drink themselves stupid but never time to get educated or sober up. All this talk about how it's hard and blah blah blah is crap. There are thousands of organizations devoted to helping the homeless including my friggen tax dollars. But instead they piss it way. Just like they did when they became homeless to begin with.

I'm sorry for the language, but what a fucking asshole. Most of the hardcore homeless are seriously mentally ill and have been abandoned by family, friends or the system. I pray this guy never has someone close to him lose it and end up sleeping on the streets in winter. That is just too cruel.

4. that poor, human garbage freeper wants to make sure.... |
|
...that his tax dollars go for something more important than helping the poor. he wants his tax money to be used for a noble purpose like fueling an illegal war or giving some rich guy another tax break.

That make my belief in karma worthwhile. What this person is saying is that violence against homeless people is OK. I want to know what the poster meant by "But instead they piss it way. Just like they did when they became homeless to begin with." What are they pissing "way"? The poster's tax dollars? I'm stumped.

Bless his good soul. Everett is brain-damaged and helpless to create a "normal" life for himself. He stands at the entrance to the eastbound Sousa Bridge in Washington, DC. Mrs. V. and I give him as much money and/or food as we can every time we see him, and we're frequently stopped long enough to talk with him. Last time we saw him we asked him his shoe size, because we can't stand to see him standing in rubber boots wrapped w/ grocery bags and tape. He said he wears a ten, but his left foot is too swollen to allow him to put on a shoe.
Among the reasons he begs is that he needs $15/week for medicine for his foot.
I doubt it's possible for that freeper to imagine himself in Everett's shoe.

For blessing the poor and disadvantaged. I'm appalled at the heartlessness of those who hate or ignore the needy. Not to be a thumper or anything, but THAT was "the last straw" with GOD when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. (NOT homosexuality). They ignored the cries of the poor and needy, Ezekiel 16:49-50.

|
that I decided to be a hypocrite for a minute. I LOATHE it when people are PHARISEES, shouting about their good works from the street corner.
For me, giving to those in need is a moral imperative. I could no more ignore Everett than suffocate myself.
And you know what? YOU ARE SO RIGHT about Sodom & Gomorrah! Well put.

You would think that since they joined and defended the country, a loyal, patriotic, true blue, flag waving conservative would be concerned about their welfare and want to help them. But I guess not.

That guy is unfortunately the majority when it comes to sentiment toward the homeless.
I have blue friends who unfortunately feel the same way.
He should try to loose his address and then try to find an employer who will employ someone without a roof over their head.
The first part about compassion is realizing the other person isn't you.

20. My tagline says it all |
|
A true Christian would try to do something nice for a homeless person, not treat them with disgust. As you do unto the least of them, you do unto me, said Christ. That is one reason many of these so called Christians should learn to help the poor and share their wealth with those less fortunate.

21. Doesn't say somewhere in the Bible about how, when Jesus |
|
encountered a hungry homeless person, he would say: "Get a job, asshole"? It doesn't say that ANYWHERE in the Bible?
Man, maybe we should follow Jesus' lead on this one and feed the hungry, shelter the cold, comfort those in despair and heal the afflicted. Or is that too much of a bleeding-heart, pinko hippie liberal thing to do????????

26. There are many homeless who WORK but because they are paid |
|
such paltry wages, they cannot afford to pay rent.
People who think they got where they are on their own merit and hard work are MISTAKEN.
For those who have a college degree...
Did you parents pay for ANY part of your tuition/room & board/books/fraternity or sorority dues?
Then you DID NOT get that degree ON YOUR OWN. Sure you had to study but if you're rich enough (a la Bushie) then you sure didn't have to study hard that's for sure. If your family can afford the tuition and the school knows that, it would take an act of God to flunk you, just ask Bush who graduated from Yale with no curiosity for the outside world and with a "gentleman's C."
Once you got out of college...did your parents help set you up in an apartment or give you money for a down payment on your house?
If so then you DID NOT buy the house on your own merits.
Did your parents help or even buy your first car?
Then you did not get that on your own merit.
For those who own a house...do you take advantage of the mortgage interest deduction on your tax form? Now that's a HUGE taxpayer subsidy for home ownership. If one has an income of $200k or so, is that deduction really needed?

most of the chronic homeless I see in Baltimore and DC are seriously troubled, many of them with severe schizophrenia. These people probably couldn't hold a job. Society has a duty to care for the disabled. Many of these people need real care.
