Is there something in the water out there? My apologies to all of the Californian DUers who will have to suffer through this.

1. The Repugs have to get Ca
and apparently they did today.

It has nothing to do with the people that voted - many weren't counted anyway. Watch for Recall Part Deux.

On your tv screens any day now.

2. Well, as a North Carolinian
whose state sent Jesse to DC for 5 terms, I'm not gonna throw stones.
Californians have my sympathies and understanding.

3. There's a difference between your state and Ca
California is a massively democratic state.

If Arnold wins this false "election" with 30% of the vote it has nothing to do with stolen or otherwise elections in the rest of the country.

Remember all, Gray Davis was elected in November of last year by the voters of California.

Remember and think about it.

7. "A massively Democratic state"...?
If so, then how come they've only had one Democratic governor in the past twenty-one years?

How come Democrats have occupied the governor's mansion only 13 out of the last 37 years?

Maybe you can say that the Bay area, Hollywood, and Malibu are "massively Democratic," but in my days of living there, it seems like the majority of the state, geographically, tends toward the conservative and Republican.

8. That's funny
My "red state", so different from the Massively Dem one, has had a Dem Gov for 18 of the past 26 years... go figure, huh...

4. History of Wackos Getting Elected, then Gray Ones
We elected:

George Murphy to the U.S. Senate in 1964.
Ronald Reagan to the governorship in 1966.
Sam Hayakawa to the Senate in 1974.

Celebrity politicians come and go. They seem to alternate with colorless functionaries.

Davis turned out to be appallingly weak. Issa's millions took Davis down. The net effect is anti-democracy.

We have to channel the anger into activity.

But this SUCKS.

5. I can't figure it out.
Why do Californians seem to think "B" grade actors are eminently qualified to run the state executive branch? At least this latest one won't ever make it to Wash DC.

6. It is starting to look like a pattern...
As Olberman suggested earlier this evening....oh what a blighted night this is!

11. Thanks for the good thoughts, folks. I'm in CA, and I'm sick...
Actually, I really *am* sick with bronchitis, but this Arnold thing is just utterly demoralizing. At least my county went "no" on the recall.

CA had a good streak going, not having elected a Republican to the office of governor, senator or president since 1994.

Now, we start from scratch.

Cheers -- :toast:
