4. You mean a poem? lol Kay...... |
|
I posted this one in the Writers forum....
Brave Coward
Anger, angst. Depression, depredation. Grim, gloom.
Wanting change, fear has its hold. Wishing for faith, there is no solace in the truth. Cries in the dark, for no one to hear.
Brave coward, everyone’s friend.
Saying yes when I should say no. Saying no when I should say yes. Never understanding. Why I do what I do.
Home has changed. Isolation is what I feel. Joy has left for now. Keep it close.
What comes is yet to see. What goes is never to return. I see what I want. It’s not what I get.
Lost in my mind. Not my own pain. Quit now. Resting in shame. Saving my heart for no one.
The time has come. Under the sun. Villain of my head. Where did I come from, where do I go?
No more of this. No more of me. No more of you.
I stow away, waiting for it to change. Hoping my fear has gone.
I look, I see, I feel. Strength is with me now. I wait for the dawning of tomorrow. For that is a new day.

|
we are left with now left with now. Fear for what MAY come, angst for WHAT EXISTS NOW, and hope it will all get better. Wonderful poem!

Most "profesional" poets, like artists, do other things on the side...like teach or do research, which is where the real money is.
If you want to be a poet...you already are.:)

This is for you...this a modified version of a poem i wrote when i was fourteen...I hope you get a chance to see this...
I gazed into the valley low and wondered how it feels to go where birds sing gaily in the trees, the feeling I will never know.
Oh how I long to feel the ease of the cool but gentle breeze, instead I try to ponder out the answer to these mysteries.
I often feel the need to shout because I have to live without what other people have; but doubt, I will ever cease to pout.

|
If he can do it, anyone can. Maybe you can finally finish that "There once was a man from Nantucket" limerick I've been hearing about for years. :-)

21. The Limerick. New York: Brandywine Press, 1970. G. Legman |
|
"The big red book" as some of us call it, has the man from Nantucket, and about 1700 other marvelous examples of the bawdy verse form.
It's been out of print for quite some time, but there are many copies floating around on Amazon.com and other online booksellers.
:)
The limerick is furtive and mean; You must keep her in close quarantine, Or she sneaks to the slums And promptly becomes Disorderly, drunk and obscene. —Morris Bishop

Should I get stoned before reading it though? :silly:
Here's another poem I wrote, since I'm the sharing mood today.
Moors
Life flies through the door Time stops on the moors To stay a while We all go ‘round on a turnstile All we do is run And have no fun All we want is to stay Until he end of day Bu we have to go For this is just a show You say time flies I say time dies By the deadly glove That kills all the hope and love Life flies out the doors And time sits idly on the moors

10. First of all you MUST have angst...lots and lots of ANGST...see what |
|
happens if you do not:
The Angstless Poet
Woe is me, how could this happen? a poetess sans tragedienne. The pain of youth long since past leaving not a twinge of angst. What can I offer - a world in pain- a simple lilting rhyme refrain?
The poor, perhaps, I can uplift Rhyme wrapped as a gift. Denounce the power of suppression expose taxation as regression. No, angst is their daily bread Nevermind the aforesaid.
A woman, perchance, needs my rhyme To disclose the paradigm. Rebuke the blame and condemnation- -her burden for mankind’s damnation. Oh! But of course to man she’s wed Nevermind the aforesaid.
Ah! Lovers in the throws of passion would save a rhyme from the ash can. Extol the pleasure of new found love If only I had memories of. Oh! Well, they spend their time abed Nevermind the aforesaid.
A captive audience is what I need whose egress I must impede. Suppose prisoners on a rhyme diet would shortly riot? Death row inmates wishing they were dead! Nevermind the aforesaid.
Woe is me, how could this be? A poetess sans tragedy Why not youth extend its reach? Why must wisdom always teach? Leaving but a shell of pain And a lilting rhyme refrain?
