3. LOL... I grew up watching that |
|
and wondering what the hell a candlepin bowling alley was. We only had tenpin and one little rinky-dink duckpin place where I grew up (New Bedford, MA).

4. Man, I Hadn't Thought About Duckpins in Years! |
|
All the local alleys had duckpin nights when I lived in Connecticut. A local station in Hartford even had a show: 'Duckpins & Dollars,' where contestants got to compete for prizes. I wasn't too crazy about the game, however...the 'ball' was shaped like a flying saucer, and I didn't play long or often enough to become any good at it.

Used to be pretty good when i cared one way or the other. Regularly shot in the low 200's (about a 207 or 208 average.) Now, if i can stay in the 170's or 180's i'm ok with that. I go maybe a dozen times a year. Mostly in the winter when i can't golf, ride my bike, or do rollerskates.
I went candlepinning a couple times near Boston when in high school and late college. I like it. Little, light ball, three chances to get ten pins. It was fun. But, i haven't done it since probably about 1974.
Never done duckpins. Seems similar to candlepins but the targets are just little regular bowling pins, not the stickthings like in candlepins. It'd probably be fun too.
BTW: I don't own bowling shoes. I WANT to rent the clown shoes. I think they look neat once in a while. (How odd is that? The Professor

8. Hardly any duckpin lanes left around... |
|
but that was my favorite, even though it kinda seemed like kiddie bowling.
(I'll settle for three pound balls.)
