I know how hard it can be.
And in 27 years you probably won't want another one. :)

But, I'm gonna smoke one then, even if I don't want it...just kidding. I'll be 80 then...probably won't even remember that I used to smoke.

2. side effect of quitting |

Congratulations! A minor problem with quitting is that ice cream starts tasting better than ever — I mean really good. 13 years now.

I fell off the wagon after 11 smoke free months and am still trying to get the gumption to give it another go. HAND IN THERE, we're all pullin' for you.

13. I'll be rooting for you |
|
There isn't a day that goes by that I wouldn't love to fire one up but I know that I would not stop at just one....and I always walk through the outdoors smokers' gulags for some secondhand smoke. I just keep reminding myself that I have cut out some of the Repug's funding.

It took me almost 5 years before I truly felt like a non-smoker and began to be offended by other people smoking. But it's been 31 smokefree years so far.

You have achieved something HUGE!! Go you!! My dad died of emphazema and asthma due to smoking. I admire you so much for quitting so you'd be around for your grandchildren. My dad didn't think that far ahead and how much I'd need him in my 20s. We are all very proud of you. Duckie

21. thanks to everyone for the support |
|
and for all of you that are trying to kick the habit..YOU CAN DO IT I was burning close to two packs a day although a lot of them just sat in the ashtray. I knew I had to quit but I kept putting it off and kept it up for a few years after my mother died from lung cancer. One day, I just knew that I was ready and gave it a try. it hasn't been easy, but nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be. And, my husband says that I haven't even been a bitch...go figure.

I'm on my way there. Only gotta wait till March 17, 2004...
I do NOT miss them!
Spent this week's cig money on bike tools. Next week, a magnetic hampster-wheel attachment so I can spin indoors when it's snowing...

Having lost my father to smoking-related health problems, my hat is off to anyone who's able to give up cigarettes and stay off them. I had lost count of how many times my dad tried to quit....
