When a cat gets spayed, how many nights does it stay at the vet's? |
|
Or does it come home the same day?

They like to keep them to make sure they don't split the stitches and don't have any ill effects from the surgery.

2. Mine were home the next morning |
|
Some vets will let them home the same night, but spaying is a little more involved than neutering, and they like to keep them overnight.

one male, one female. brother & sister, actually.
Frankie still blames Beans for losing his 'munchkins' - he hisses at her EVERY time they go for their annual shots.

8. Yikes! I get mine the same day! |
|
Usually they do it very early in the morning, and the cat is ready to go by late afternoon. This seems to be different than other people who have posted here, but this has been with a number of vets, in 3 different cities, in 3 different parts of the country....
Maybe because I raise brats. When little Marigold (a pomeranian) was spayed, she was so hysterical with separation anxiety that as soon as she awoke from surgery, she started screaming, and they called me around 1PM and said "COME AND GET YOUR DOG!"
Same thing when Rusty (my older boy Pom) had his bladder surgery. He fussed so that I had to go get him as soon as he woke up too! It was sad -- he was so groggy from the anaesthetic that he closed his eyes and just softly whined all the way home in the car.

12. Mine stayed for two but she was declawed also. |
|
Plus I also have 3 kids a dog and another cat, so the vet thought it would be best to leave her for another night of peace and quiet. What was really funny was when I brought her home, my other cat acted like he didn't know who she was (tail puffing, hissing, etc.)
